Romans 1:5

5: Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name.

  1. It is not that we think we can do anything of lasting value by ourselves. Our only power and success come from God.
  2. He is the one who has enabled us to represent his new covenant. This is a covenant, not of written laws, but of the Spirit. The old way ends in death; in the new way, the Holy Spirit gives life.

Romans 15:18

  1. I dare not boast of anything else. I have brought the Gentiles to God by my message and by the way I lived before them.
  2. I have won them over by the miracles done through me as signs from God--all by the power of God's Spirit. In this way, I have fully presented the Good News of Christ all the way from Jerusalem clear over into Illyricum.

  2. a special messenger from Christ Jesus to you Gentiles. I bring you the Good News and offer you up as a fragrant sacrifice to God so that you might be pure and pleasing to him by the Holy Spirit.

  1. As you already know, God has given me this special ministry of announcing his favor to you Gentiles.
  2. As I briefly mentioned earlier in this letter, God himself revealed his secret plan to me.
  3. As you read what I have written, you will understand what I know about this plan regarding Christ.
  4. God did not reveal it to previous generations, but now he has revealed it by the Holy Spirit to his holy apostles and prophets.
  5. And this is the secret plan: The Gentiles have an equal share with the Jews in all the riches inherited by God's children. Both groups have believed the Good News, and both are part of the same body and enjoy together the promise of blessings through Christ Jesus.

Acts 15:14

  1. Peter has told you about the time God first visited the Gentiles to take from them a people for himself.
