11: "And when you are brought to trial in the synagogues and before rulers and authorities, don't worry about what to say in your defense,
Matthew 10:17
- But beware! For you will be handed over to the courts and beaten in the synagogues.
- And you must stand trial before governors and kings because you are my followers. This will be your opportunity to tell them about me--yes, to witness to the world.

- So they persuaded some men to lie about Stephen, saying, "We heard him blaspheme Moses, and even God."
- Naturally, this roused the crowds, the elders, and the teachers of religious law. So they arrested Stephen and brought him before the high council.
- The lying witnesses said, "This man is always speaking against the Temple and against the law of Moses.
