Galatians 5:4
4: For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God's grace.
2 Peter 2:20
- And when people escape from the wicked ways of the world by learning about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then get tangled up with sin and become its slave again, they are worse off than before.
- It would be better if they had never known the right way to live than to know it and then reject the holy commandments that were given to them.
- They make these proverbs come true: "A dog returns to its vomit," and "A washed pig returns to the mud."
Romans 9:31
- But the Jews, who tried so hard to get right with God by keeping the law, never succeeded.
- Why not? Because they were trying to get right with God by keeping the law and being good instead of by depending on faith. They stumbled over the great rock in their path.
Galatians 2:21
- I am not one of those who treats the grace of God as meaningless. For if we could be saved by keeping the law, then there was no need for Christ to die.

Romans 10:3
- For they don't understand God's way of making people right with himself. Instead, they are clinging to their own way of getting right with God by trying to keep the law. They won't go along with God's way.
- For Christ has accomplished the whole purpose of the law. All who believe in him are made right with God.
- For Moses wrote that the law's way of making a person right with God requires obedience to all of its commands.
Galatians 1:6
- I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who in his love and mercy called you to share the eternal life he gives through Christ. You are already following a different way
- that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who twist and change the truth concerning Christ.
- Let God's curse fall on anyone, including myself, who preaches any other message than the one we told you about. Even if an angel comes from heaven and preaches any other message, let him be forever cursed.
- I will say it again: If anyone preaches any other gospel than the one you welcomed, let God's curse fall upon that person.
Hebrews 10:38
- And a righteous person will live by faith. But I will have no pleasure in anyone who turns away."
- But we are not like those who turn their backs on God and seal their fate. We have faith that assures our salvation.
2 Peter 3:17
- I am warning you ahead of time, dear friends, so that you can watch out and not be carried away by the errors of these wicked people. I don't want you to lose your own secure footing.
- But grow in the special favor and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be all glory and honor, both now and forevermore. Amen.
