20: I preached first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and throughout all Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that all must turn from their sins and turn to God--and prove they have changed by the good things they do.

- Knowing God leads to self-control. Self-control leads to patient endurance, and patient endurance leads to godliness.
- Godliness leads to love for other Christians, and finally you will grow to have genuine love for everyone.
- The more you grow like this, the more you will become productive and useful in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Hosea 12:6

2 Corinthians 7:10
- For God can use sorrow in our lives to help us turn away from sin and seek salvation. We will never regret that kind of sorrow. But sorrow without repentance is the kind that results in death.

- But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are a kingdom of priests, God's holy nation, his very own possession. This is so you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
- "Once you were not a people; now you are the people of God. Once you received none of God's mercy; now you have received his mercy."
- Dear brothers and sisters, you are foreigners and aliens here. So I warn you to keep away from evil desires because they fight against your very souls.
- Be careful how you live among your unbelieving neighbors. Even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will believe and give honor to God when he comes to judge the world.
Psalms 22:27

Acts 11:26
- When he found him, he brought him back to Antioch. Both of them stayed there with the church for a full year, teaching great numbers of people. (It was there at Antioch that the believers were first called Christians.)
- During this time, some prophets traveled from Jerusalem to Antioch.
- One of them named Agabus stood up in one of the meetings to predict by the Spirit that a great famine was coming upon the entire Roman world. (This was fulfilled during the reign of Claudius.)
- So the believers in Antioch decided to send relief to the brothers and sisters in Judea, everyone giving as much as they could.
- This they did, entrusting their gifts to Barnabas and Saul to take to the elders of the church in Jerusalem.
Acts 13:46
- Then Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and declared, "It was necessary that this Good News from God be given first to you Jews. But since you have rejected it and judged yourselves unworthy of eternal life--well, we will offer it to Gentiles.
- For this is as the Lord commanded us when he said, 'I have made you a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.'"
- When the Gentiles heard this, they were very glad and thanked the Lord for his message; and all who were appointed to eternal life became believers.
Luke 3:8
- Prove by the way you live that you have really turned from your sins and turned to God. Don't just say, 'We're safe--we're the descendants of Abraham.' That proves nothing. God can change these stones here into children of Abraham.
- Even now the ax of God's judgment is poised, ready to sever your roots. Yes, every tree that does not produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire."
