15: The LORD despises those who acquit the guilty and condemn the innocent.

"Keep far away from falsely charging anyone with evil. Never put an innocent or honest person to death. I will not allow anyone guilty of this to go free.

They take bribes to pervert justice. They let the wicked go free while punishing the innocent.

Here are some further sayings of the wise: It is wrong to show favoritism when passing judgment.
A judge who says to the wicked, "You are innocent," will be cursed by many people and denounced by the nations.

But people are declared righteous because of their faith, not because of their work.

The LORD hates the sacrifice of the wicked, but he delights in the prayers of the upright.

Then two scoundrels accused him before all the people of cursing God and the king. So he was dragged outside the city and stoned to death.

You have condemned and killed good people who had no power to defend themselves against you.

"My thoughts are completely different from yours," says the LORD. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.

For I know the vast number of your sins and rebellions. You oppress good people by taking bribes and deprive the poor of justice in the courts.

Can horses gallop over rocks? Can oxen be used to plow rocks? Stupid even to ask--but that's how stupid you are when you turn justice into poison and make bitter the sweet fruit of righteousness.

You wicked people! You twist justice, making it a bitter pill for the poor and oppressed. Righteousness and fair play are meaningless fictions to you.

Then a mighty roar rose from the crowd, and with one voice they shouted, "Kill him, and release Barabbas to us!"
(Barabbas was in prison for murder and for taking part in an insurrection in Jerusalem against the government.)
Pilate argued with them, because he wanted to release Jesus.
But they shouted, "Crucify him! Crucify him!"
For the third time he demanded, "Why? What crime has he committed? I have found no reason to sentence him to death. I will therefore flog him and let him go."

Your leaders are like wolves, who tear apart their victims. They actually destroy people's lives for profit!
And your prophets announce false visions and speak false messages. They say, `My message is from the Sovereign LORD,' when the LORD hasn't spoken a single word to them. They repair cracked walls with whitewash!
Even common people oppress the poor, rob the needy, and deprive foreigners of justice.
