23: Then Jesus got into the boat and started across the lake with his disciples.
Luke 8:22
- One day Jesus said to his disciples, "Let's cross over to the other side of the lake." So they got into a boat and started out.
- On the way across, Jesus lay down for a nap, and while he was sleeping the wind began to rise. A fierce storm developed that threatened to swamp them, and they were in real danger.
- The disciples woke him up, shouting, "Master, Master, we're going to drown!" So Jesus rebuked the wind and the raging waves. The storm stopped and all was calm!
- Then he asked them, "Where is your faith?" And they were filled with awe and amazement. They said to one another, "Who is this man, that even the winds and waves obey him?"
Mark 4:36
- He was already in the boat, so they started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed).
- But soon a fierce storm arose. High waves began to break into the boat until it was nearly full of water.
- Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. Frantically they woke him up, shouting, "Teacher, don't you even care that we are going to drown?"
- When he woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the water, "Quiet down!" Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm.
- And he asked them, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still not have faith in me?"
Matthew 9:1
- Jesus climbed into a boat and went back across the lake to his own town.
Luke 7:22
- Then he told John's disciples, "Go back to John and tell him what you have seen and heard--the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor.
