1: When Herod Antipas heard about Jesus,
Luke 3:1
- It was now the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius, the Roman emperor. Pilate was governor over Judea; Herod Antipas was ruler over Galilee; his brother Philip was ruler over Iturea and Traconitis; Lysanias was ruler over Abilene.
Acts 4:27
- "That is what has happened here in this city! For Herod Antipas, Pontius Pilate the governor, the Gentiles, and the people of Israel were all united against Jesus, your holy servant, whom you anointed.
Luke 9:7

- Herod Antipas, the king, soon heard about Jesus, because people everywhere were talking about him. Some were saying, "This must be John the Baptist come back to life again. That is why he can do such miracles."
- Others thought Jesus was the ancient prophet Elijah. Still others thought he was a prophet like the other great prophets of the past.
- When Herod heard about Jesus, he said, "John, the man I beheaded, has come back from the dead."
- For Herod had sent soldiers to arrest and imprison John as a favor to Herodias. She had been his brother Philip's wife, but Herod had married her.
- John kept telling Herod, "It is illegal for you to marry your brother's wife."
Acts 12:1
- About that time King Herod Agrippa began to persecute some believers in the church.
Luke 3:19
- John also publicly criticized Herod Antipas, ruler of Galilee, for marrying Herodias, his brother's wife, and for many other wrongs he had done.
