14: Then he selected twelve of them to be his regular companions, calling them apostles. He sent them out to preach,

You didn't choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.

The Lord now chose seventy-two other disciples and sent them on ahead in pairs to all the towns and villages he planned to visit.
These were his instructions to them: "The harvest is so great, but the workers are so few. Pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest, and ask him to send out more workers for his fields.
Go now, and remember that I am sending you out as lambs among wolves.
Don't take along any money, or a traveler's bag, or even an extra pair of sandals. And don't stop to greet anyone on the road.
"Whenever you enter a home, give it your blessing.

Then they all prayed for the right man to be chosen. "O Lord," they said, "you know every heart. Show us which of these men you have chosen
as an apostle to replace Judas the traitor in this ministry, for he has deserted us and gone where he belongs."

But when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power and will tell people about me everywhere--in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

This letter is from Paul, an apostle. I was not appointed by any group or by human authority. My call is from Jesus Christ himself and from God the Father, who raised Jesus from the dead.

One day Jesus called together his twelve apostles and gave them power and authority to cast out demons and to heal all diseases.
Then he sent them out to tell everyone about the coming of the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
"Don't even take along a walking stick," he instructed them, "nor a traveler's bag, nor food, nor money. Not even an extra coat.
When you enter each village, be a guest in only one home.
If the people of the village won't receive your message when you enter it, shake off its dust from your feet as you leave. It is a sign that you have abandoned that village to its fate."

With my authority, take this message of repentance to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: 'There is forgiveness of sins for all who turn to me.'

But then something happened! For it pleased God in his kindness to choose me and call me, even before I was born! What undeserved mercy!
Then he revealed his Son to me so that I could proclaim the Good News about Jesus to the Gentiles. When all this happened to me, I did not rush out to consult with anyone else;
nor did I go up to Jerusalem to consult with those who were apostles before I was. No, I went away into Arabia and later returned to the city of Damascus.
It was not until three years later that I finally went to Jerusalem for a visit with Peter and stayed there with him for fifteen days.
And the only other apostle I met at that time was James, our Lord's brother.
