1: This is what the LORD says: "The people of Moab have sinned again and again, and I will not forget it. I will not let them go unpunished any longer! They desecrated the tomb of Edom's king and burned his bones to ashes.
Zephaniah 2:8
- "I have heard the taunts of the people of Moab and Ammon, mocking my people and invading their borders.
- Now, as surely as I live," says the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, "Moab and Ammon will be destroyed as completely as Sodom and Gomorrah. Isaiah 15:1
- This message came to me concerning Moab: In one night your cities of Ar and Kir will be destroyed.
- Your people in Dibon will mourn at their temples and shrines, weeping for the fate of Nebo and Medeba. They will shave their heads in sorrow and cut off their beards.
- They will wear sackcloth as they wander the streets. From every home will come the sound of weeping.
- The cries from the cities of Heshbon and Elealeh will be heard far away, even in Jahaz! The bravest warriors of Moab will cry out in utter terror.
- My heart weeps for Moab. Its people flee to Zoar and Eglath-shelishiyah. Weeping, they climb the road to Luhith. Their crying can be heard all along the road to Horonaim.
2 Kings 3:26
- When the king of Moab saw that he was losing the battle, he led seven hundred of his warriors in a desperate attempt to break through the enemy lines near the king of Edom, but they failed to escape.
- So he took his oldest son, who would have been the next king, and sacrificed him as a burnt offering on the wall. As a result, the anger against Israel was great, so they withdrew and returned to their own land.
Amos 1:3
- This is what the LORD says: "The people of Damascus have sinned again and again, and I will not forget it. I will not let them go unpunished any longer! They beat down my people in Gilead as grain is threshed with threshing sledges of iron.

- And then the roar of battle will surge against Horonaim,
- for all Moab is being destroyed. Her little ones will cry out.
- Her refugees will climb the hills of Luhith, weeping bitterly, while cries of terror rise from Horonaim below.

- This is what the LORD says: "The people of Edom have sinned again and again, and I will not forget it. I will not let them go unpunished any longer! They chased down their relatives, the Israelites, with swords. They showed them no mercy and were unrelenting in their anger.

Isaiah 11:14
- They will join forces to swoop down on Philistia to the west. Together they will attack and plunder the nations to the east. They will occupy all the lands of Edom, Moab, and Ammon.
Deuteronomy 23:4
- These nations did not welcome you with food and water when you came out of Egypt. Instead, they tried to hire Balaam son of Beor from Pethor in Aram-naharaim to curse you.
- (But the LORD your God would not listen to Balaam. He turned the intended curse into a blessing because the LORD your God loves you.)
