Philippians 1:15
15: Some are preaching out of jealousy and rivalry. But others preach about Christ with pure motives.
Romans 16:17
- And now I make one more appeal, my dear brothers and sisters. Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people's faith by teaching things that are contrary to what you have been taught. Stay away from them.
- Such people are not serving Christ our Lord; they are serving their own personal interests. By smooth talk and glowing words they deceive innocent people.
Philippians 2:3
- Don't be selfish; don't live to make a good impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself.
1 Corinthians 3:3
- for you are still controlled by your own sinful desires. You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. Doesn't that prove you are controlled by your own desires? You are acting like people who don't belong to the Lord.

Philippians 1:16
- They preach because they love me, for they know the Lord brought me here to defend the Good News.
- Those others do not have pure motives as they preach about Christ. They preach with selfish ambition, not sincerely, intending to make my chains more painful to me.
- But whether or not their motives are pure, the fact remains that the message about Christ is being preached, so I rejoice. And I will continue to rejoice.
Matthew 23:5
- "Everything they do is for show. On their arms they wear extra wide prayer boxes with Scripture verses inside, and they wear extra long tassels on their robes.
