15: "Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep, but are really wolves that will tear you apart.
1 John 4:1
- Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world.
2 Peter 2:1
- But there were also false prophets in Israel, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly teach their destructive heresies about God and even turn against their Master who bought them. Theirs will be a swift and terrible end.
- Many will follow their evil teaching and shameful immorality. And because of them, Christ and his true way will be slandered.
- In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. But God condemned them long ago, and their destruction is on the way.
Matthew 24:11
- And many false prophets will appear and will lead many people astray.
Colossians 2:8
- Don't let anyone lead you astray with empty philosophy and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the evil powers of this world, and not from Christ.
Mark 13:22

- But I am not surprised! Even Satan can disguise himself as an angel of light.
- So it is no wonder his servants can also do it by pretending to be godly ministers. In the end they will get every bit of punishment their wicked deeds deserve.
Jude 1:4
- I say this because some godless people have wormed their way in among you, saying that God's forgiveness allows us to live immoral lives. The fate of such people was determined long ago, for they have turned against our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Revelation 19:20
- And the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who did mighty miracles on behalf of the beast--miracles that deceived all who had accepted the mark of the beast and who worshiped his statue. - He was permitted to give life to this statue so that it could speak. Then the statue commanded that anyone refusing to worship it must die.
2 Timothy 3:5
- They will act as if they are religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. You must stay away from people like that.
- They are the kind who work their way into people's homes and win the confidence of vulnerable women who are burdened with the guilt of sin and controlled by many desires.
- Such women are forever following new teachings, but they never understand the truth.
- And these teachers fight the truth just as Jannes and Jambres fought against Moses. Their minds are depraved, and their faith is counterfeit.
- But they won't get away with this for long. Someday everyone will recognize what fools they are, just as happened with Jannes and Jambres.
Matthew 24:4
- Jesus told them, "Don't let anyone mislead you.
- For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Messiah.' They will lead many astray.
Matthew 24:24
- For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great miraculous signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God's chosen ones.
- See, I have warned you.
Romans 16:17
- And now I make one more appeal, my dear brothers and sisters. Watch out for people who cause divisions and upset people's faith by teaching things that are contrary to what you have been taught. Stay away from them.
- Such people are not serving Christ our Lord; they are serving their own personal interests. By smooth talk and glowing words they deceive innocent people.
Jeremiah 14:14
- Then the LORD said, "These prophets are telling lies in my name. I did not send them or tell them to speak. I did not give them any messages. They prophesy of visions and revelations they have never seen or heard. They speak foolishness made up in their own lying hearts.
- Therefore, says the LORD, I will punish these lying prophets, for they have spoken in my name even though I never sent them. They say that no war or famine will come, but they themselves will die by war and famine!
- As for the people to whom they prophesy--their bodies will be thrown out into the streets of Jerusalem, victims of famine and war. There will be no one left to bury them. Husbands, wives, sons, and daughters--all will be gone. For I will pour out their own wickedness on them.
2 Timothy 4:3
- For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to right teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever they want to hear.
Jeremiah 23:13
- "I saw that the prophets of Samaria were terribly evil, for they prophesied by Baal and led my people of Israel into sin.
- But now I see that the prophets of Jerusalem are even worse! They commit adultery, and they love dishonesty. They encourage those who are doing evil instead of turning them away from their sins. These prophets are as wicked as the people of Sodom and Gomorrah once were."
- Therefore, this is what the LORD Almighty says concerning the prophets: "I will feed them with bitterness and give them poison to drink. For it is because of Jerusalem's prophets that wickedness fills this land.
- This is my warning to my people," says the LORD Almighty. "Do not listen to these prophets when they prophesy to you, filling you with futile hopes. They are making up everything they say. They do not speak for the LORD!
