34: "So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today.

"So I tell you, don't worry about everyday life--whether you have enough food, drink, and clothes. Doesn't life consist of more than food and clothing?

"I am leaving you with a gift--peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn't like the peace the world gives. So don't be troubled or afraid.

Stay away from the love of money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, "I will never fail you. I will never forsake you."
That is why we can say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper, so I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?"

For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: There will always be plenty of flour and oil left in your containers until the time when the LORD sends rain and the crops grow again!"
So she did as Elijah said, and she and Elijah and her son continued to eat from her supply of flour and oil for many days.
For no matter how much they used, there was always enough left in the containers, just as the LORD had promised through Elijah.

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world."

Drink from the brook and eat what the ravens bring you, for I have commanded them to bring you food."
So Elijah did as the LORD had told him and camped beside Kerith Brook.
The ravens brought him bread and meat each morning and evening, and he drank from the brook.

Elisha replied, "Hear this message from the LORD! This is what the LORD says: By this time tomorrow in the markets of Samaria, five quarts of fine flour will cost only half an ounce of silver, and ten quarts of barley grain will cost only half an ounce of silver. "
The officer assisting the king said to the man of God, "That couldn't happen even if the LORD opened the windows of heaven!" But Elisha replied, "You will see it happen, but you won't be able to eat any of it!"

By gathering two quarts for each person, everyone had just enough. Those who gathered a lot had nothing left over, and those who gathered only a little had enough. Each family had just what it needed.
Then Moses told them, "Do not keep any of it overnight."
But, of course, some of them didn't listen and kept some of it until morning. By then it was full of maggots and had a terrible smell. And Moses was very angry with them.

May the bolts of your gates be of iron and bronze; may your strength match the length of your days!"

and to keep you from becoming disturbed by the troubles you were going through. But, of course, you know that such troubles are going to happen to us Christians.
Even while we were with you, we warned you that troubles would soon come--and they did, as you well know.
