11: "This is the meaning of the story: The seed is God's message.
1 Peter 1:23
- For you have been born again. Your new life did not come from your earthly parents because the life they gave you will end in death. But this new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.
- As the prophet says, "People are like grass that dies away; their beauty fades as quickly as the beauty of wildflowers. The grass withers, and the flowers fall away.
- But the word of the Lord will last forever." And that word is the Good News that was preached to you.
James 1:21
- So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the message God has planted in your hearts, for it is strong enough to save your souls.
Mark 4:14
- The farmer I talked about is the one who brings God's message to others.
- The seed that fell on the hard path represents those who hear the message, but then Satan comes at once and takes it away from them.
- The rocky soil represents those who hear the message and receive it with joy.
- But like young plants in such soil, their roots don't go very deep. At first they get along fine, but they wilt as soon as they have problems or are persecuted because they believe the word.
