John 1:43
- The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, "Come, be my disciple."
- Philip was from Bethsaida, Andrew and Peter's hometown.
- Philip went off to look for Nathanael and told him, "We have found the very person Moses and the prophets wrote about! His name is Jesus, the son of Joseph from Nazareth."
- "Nazareth!" exclaimed Nathanael. "Can anything good come from there?Just come and see for yourself," Philip said.
- As they approached, Jesus said, "Here comes an honest man--a true son of Israel."
John 6:5
- Jesus soon saw a great crowd of people climbing the hill, looking for him. Turning to Philip, he asked, "Philip, where can we buy bread to feed all these people?"
- He was testing Philip, for he already knew what he was going to do.
- Philip replied, "It would take a small fortune to feed them!"
Matthew 12:19
- He will not fight or shout; he will not raise his voice in public.
- He will not crush those who are weak, or quench the smallest hope, until he brings full justice with his final victory.
- And his name will be the hope of all the world."
