6: Some people pour out their silver and gold and hire a craftsman to make a god from it. Then they bow down and worship it!
Jeremiah 10:3
- Their ways are futile and foolish. They cut down a tree and carve an idol.
- They decorate it with gold and silver and then fasten it securely with hammer and nails so it won't fall over.

- He cuts down cedars; he selects the cypress and the oak; he plants the cedar in the forest to be nourished by the rain.
- And after his care, he uses part of the wood to make a fire to warm himself and bake his bread. Then--yes, it's true--he takes the rest of it and makes himself a god for people to worship! He makes an idol and bows down and praises it!
- He burns part of the tree to roast his meat and to keep himself warm.
Hosea 8:4
- The people have appointed kings and princes, but not with my consent. By making idols for themselves from their silver and gold, they have brought about their own destruction.
- "O Samaria, I reject this calf--this idol you have made. My fury burns against you. How long will you be incapable of innocence?
- This calf you worship was crafted by your own hands! It is not God! Therefore, it must be smashed to bits.
Judges 17:3
- He returned the money to her, and she said, "I now dedicate these silver coins to the LORD. In honor of my son, I will have an image carved and an idol cast."
- So his mother took two hundred of the silver coins to a silversmith, who made them into an image and an idol. And these were placed in Micah's house.
Isaiah 2:8
