Hebrews 6:15
15: Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised.
Genesis 12:2
- I will cause you to become the father of a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and I will make you a blessing to others.
- I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. All the families of the earth will be blessed through you."
Exodus 1:7
- But their descendants had many children and grandchildren. In fact, they multiplied so quickly that they soon filled the land.
Romans 4:17
- That is what the Scriptures mean when God told him, "I have made you the father of many nations." This happened because Abraham believed in the God who brings the dead back to life and who brings into existence what didn't exist before.
- When God promised Abraham that he would become the father of many nations, Abraham believed him. God had also said, "Your descendants will be as numerous as the stars," even though such a promise seemed utterly impossible!
- And Abraham's faith did not weaken, even though he knew that he was too old to be a father at the age of one hundred and that Sarah, his wife, had never been able to have children.
- Abraham never wavered in believing God's promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God.
- He was absolutely convinced that God was able to do anything he promised.
Hebrews 6:12
- Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God's promises because of their faith and patience.
Genesis 21:2
- Sarah became pregnant, and she gave a son to Abraham in his old age. It all happened at the time God had said it would.
- And Abraham named his son Isaac.
- Eight days after Isaac was born, Abraham circumcised him as God had commanded.
- Abraham was one hundred years old at the time.
- And Sarah declared, "God has brought me laughter! All who hear about this will laugh with me.
Genesis 15:2
- But Abram replied, "O Sovereign LORD, what good are all your blessings when I don't even have a son? Since I don't have a son, Eliezer of Damascus, a servant in my household, will inherit all my wealth.
- You have given me no children, so one of my servants will have to be my heir."
- Then the LORD said to him, "No, your servant will not be your heir, for you will have a son of your own to inherit everything I am giving you."
- Then the LORD brought Abram outside beneath the night sky and told him, "Look up into the heavens and count the stars if you can. Your descendants will be like that--too many to count!"
- And Abram believed the LORD, and the LORD declared him righteous because of his faith.
Habakkuk 2:2
- Then the LORD said to me, "Write my answer in large, clear letters on a tablet, so that a runner can read it and tell everyone else.
- But these things I plan won't happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.
Genesis 17:16
- And I will bless her and give you a son from her! Yes, I will bless her richly, and she will become the mother of many nations. Kings will be among her descendants!"
- Then Abraham bowed down to the ground, but he laughed to himself in disbelief. "How could I become a father at the age of one hundred?" he wondered. "Besides, Sarah is ninety; how could she have a baby?"
