Genesis 22:10 Cross References
Genesis 22:10
10: And Abraham took the knife and lifted it up to kill his son as a sacrifice to the LORD.
Hebrews 11:17
- It was by faith that Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice when God was testing him. Abraham, who had received God's promises, was ready to sacrifice his only son, Isaac,
- though God had promised him, "Isaac is the son through whom your descendants will be counted."
- Abraham assumed that if Isaac died, God was able to bring him back to life again. And in a sense, Abraham did receive his son back from the dead.
James 2:21
- Don't you remember that our ancestor Abraham was declared right with God because of what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?
- You see, he was trusting God so much that he was willing to do whatever God told him to do. His faith was made complete by what he did--by his actions.
- And so it happened just as the Scriptures say: "Abraham believed God, so God declared him to be righteous." He was even called "the friend of God."
Isaiah 53:6
- All of us have strayed away like sheep. We have left God's paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on him the guilt and sins of us all.
- He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth.
- From prison and trial they led him away to his death. But who among the people realized that he was dying for their sins--that he was suffering their punishment?
- He had done no wrong, and he never deceived anyone. But he was buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man's grave.
- But it was the LORD's good plan to crush him and fill him with grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have a multitude of children, many heirs. He will enjoy a long life, and the LORD's plan will prosper in his hands.
