Amos 5:22
22: I will not accept your burnt offerings and grain offerings. I won't even notice all your choice peace offerings.
Micah 6:6
- What can we bring to the LORD to make up for what we've done? Should we bow before God with offerings of yearling calves?
- Should we offer him thousands of rams and tens of thousands of rivers of olive oil? Would that please the LORD? Should we sacrifice our firstborn children to pay for the sins of our souls? Would that make him glad?
Amos 4:4
- "Go ahead and offer your sacrifices to the idols at Bethel and Gilgal. Keep on disobeying--your sins are mounting up! Offer sacrifices each morning and bring your tithes every three days!
- Present your bread made with yeast as an offering of thanksgiving. Then give your extra voluntary offerings so you can brag about it everywhere! This is the kind of thing you Israelites love to do," says the Sovereign LORD.
Isaiah 66:3
- But those who choose their own ways, delighting in their sins, are cursed. Their offerings will not be accepted. When such people sacrifice an ox, it is no more acceptable than a human sacrifice. When they sacrifice a lamb or bring an offering of grain, it is as bad as putting a dog or the blood of a pig on the altar! When they burn incense, it is as if they had blessed an idol.
Leviticus 7:12
- If you present your peace offering as a thanksgiving offering, the usual animal sacrifice must be accompanied by various kinds of bread--loaves, wafers, and cakes--all made without yeast and soaked with olive oil.
- This peace offering of thanksgiving must also be accompanied by loaves of yeast bread.
- One of each kind of bread must be presented as a gift to the LORD. This bread will then belong to the priest who sprinkles the altar with blood from the sacrificed animal.
- The animal's meat must be eaten on the same day it is offered. None of it may be saved for the next morning.
Psalms 50:8
- I have no complaint about your sacrifices or the burnt offerings you constantly bring to my altar.
- But I want no more bulls from your barns; I want no more goats from your pens.
- For all the animals of the forest are mine, and I own the cattle on a thousand hills.
- Every bird of the mountains and all the animals of the field belong to me.
- If I were hungry, I would not mention it to you, for all the world is mine and everything in it.
Psalms 50:23
- But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God."
Psalms 116:17
