- Nathan replied, "Go ahead and do what you have in mind, for the LORD is with you."
- But that same night the LORD said to Nathan,
- "Go and tell my servant David, `This is what the LORD says: Are you the one to build me a temple to live in?
1 Chronicles 17:1
- Now when David was settled in his palace, he said to Nathan the prophet, "Here I am living in this beautiful cedar palace, but the Ark of the LORD's covenant is out in a tent!"
- Nathan replied, "Go ahead with what you have in mind, for God is with you."

- but you are not the one to do it. One of your sons will build it instead.'

- And now because of my devotion to the Temple of my God, I am giving all of my own private treasures of gold and silver to help in the construction. This is in addition to the building materials I have already collected for his holy Temple.
