Acts 3:13
13: For it is the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob, the God of all our ancestors who has brought glory to his servant Jesus by doing this. This is the same Jesus whom you handed over and rejected before Pilate, despite Pilate's decision to release him.
Acts 7:32

Psalms 105:6
- O children of Abraham, God's servant, O descendants of Jacob, God's chosen one.
- He is the LORD our God. His rule is seen throughout the land.
- He always stands by his covenant--the commitment he made to a thousand generations.
- This is the covenant he made with Abraham and the oath he swore to Isaac.
- He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to the people of Israel as a never-ending treaty:

- (Barabbas was in prison for murder and for taking part in an insurrection in Jerusalem against the government.)
- Pilate argued with them, because he wanted to release Jesus.
Hebrews 2:9
- What we do see is Jesus, who "for a little while was made lower than the angels" and now is "crowned with glory and honor" because he suffered death for us. Yes, by God's grace, Jesus tasted death for everyone in all the world.
Acts 13:27
- The people in Jerusalem and their leaders fulfilled prophecy by condemning Jesus to death. They didn't recognize him or realize that he is the one the prophets had written about, though they hear the prophets' words read every Sabbath.
- They found no just cause to execute him, but they asked Pilate to have him killed anyway.

- And so a whole nation came from this one man, Abraham, who was too old to have any children--a nation with so many people that, like the stars of the sky and the sand on the seashore, there is no way to count them.
- All these faithful ones died without receiving what God had promised them, but they saw it all from a distance and welcomed the promises of God. They agreed that they were no more than foreigners and nomads here on earth.
Mark 15:11
- But at this point the leading priests stirred up the mob to demand the release of Barabbas instead of Jesus.
John 17:1
- When Jesus had finished saying all these things, he looked up to heaven and said, "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son so he can give glory back to you.
- For you have given him authority over everyone in all the earth. He gives eternal life to each one you have given him.
- And this is the way to have eternal life--to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.
- I brought glory to you here on earth by doing everything you told me to do.
- And now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began.
John 19:12
- Then Pilate tried to release him, but the Jewish leaders told him, "If you release this man, you are not a friend of Caesar. Anyone who declares himself a king is a rebel against Caesar."
John 7:39
- (When he said "living water," he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.)
Matthew 27:17
- As the crowds gathered before Pilate's house that morning, he asked them, "Which one do you want me to release to you--Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?"
- (He knew very well that the Jewish leaders had arrested Jesus out of envy.)
- Just then, as Pilate was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent him this message: "Leave that innocent man alone, because I had a terrible nightmare about him last night."
- Meanwhile, the leading priests and other leaders persuaded the crowds to ask for Barabbas to be released and for Jesus to be put to death.
- So when the governor asked again, "Which of these two do you want me to release to you?" the crowd shouted back their reply: "Barabbas!"
John 12:16
- His disciples didn't realize at the time that this was a fulfillment of prophecy. But after Jesus entered into his glory, they remembered that these Scriptures had come true before their eyes.
