30: Even some of you will distort the truth in order to draw a following.
2 Timothy 4:3
- For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to right teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever they want to hear.
- They will reject the truth and follow strange myths.
1 John 2:19
- These people left our churches because they never really belonged with us; otherwise they would have stayed with us. When they left us, it proved that they do not belong with us.
1 Timothy 1:19
- Cling tightly to your faith in Christ, and always keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked.
- Hymenaeus and Alexander are two examples of this. I turned them over to Satan so they would learn not to blaspheme God.
Jude 1:4
- I say this because some godless people have wormed their way in among you, saying that God's forgiveness allows us to live immoral lives. The fate of such people was determined long ago, for they have turned against our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
- I must remind you--and you know it well--that even though the Lord rescued the whole nation of Israel from Egypt, he later destroyed every one of those who did not remain faithful.
- And I remind you of the angels who did not stay within the limits of authority God gave them but left the place where they belonged. God has kept them chained in prisons of darkness, waiting for the day of judgment.
- And don't forget the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring towns, which were filled with sexual immorality and every kind of sexual perversion. Those cities were destroyed by fire and are a warning of the eternal fire that will punish all who are evil.
- Yet these false teachers, who claim authority from their dreams, live immoral lives, defy authority, and scoff at the power of the glorious ones.
Acts 11:26
- When he found him, he brought him back to Antioch. Both of them stayed there with the church for a full year, teaching great numbers of people. (It was there at Antioch that the believers were first called Christians.)
Galatians 6:12
- Those who are trying to force you to be circumcised are doing it for just one reason. They don't want to be persecuted for teaching that the cross of Christ alone can save.
- And even those who advocate circumcision don't really keep the whole law. They only want you to be circumcised so they can brag about it and claim you as their disciples.
2 Peter 2:1
- But there were also false prophets in Israel, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly teach their destructive heresies about God and even turn against their Master who bought them. Theirs will be a swift and terrible end.
- Many will follow their evil teaching and shameful immorality. And because of them, Christ and his true way will be slandered.
- In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. But God condemned them long ago, and their destruction is on the way.
Matthew 26:21
- While they were eating, he said, "The truth is, one of you will betray me."
- Greatly distressed, one by one they began to ask him, "I'm not the one, am I, Lord?"
- He replied, "One of you who is eating with me now will betray me.
- For I, the Son of Man, must die, as the Scriptures declared long ago. But how terrible it will be for my betrayer. Far better for him if he had never been born!"
- Judas, the one who would betray him, also asked, "Teacher, I'm not the one, am I?" And Jesus told him, "You have said it yourself."
2 Peter 2:18
- They brag about themselves with empty, foolish boasting. With lustful desire as their bait, they lure back into sin those who have just escaped from such wicked living.
Acts 5:36
- Some time ago there was that fellow Theudas, who pretended to be someone great. About four hundred others joined him, but he was killed, and his followers went their various ways. The whole movement came to nothing.
- After him, at the time of the census, there was Judas of Galilee. He got some people to follow him, but he was killed, too, and all his followers were scattered.
1 Corinthians 1:12
- Some of you are saying, "I am a follower of Paul." Others are saying, "I follow Apollos," or "I follow Peter, "or "I follow only Christ."
- Can Christ be divided into pieces? Was I, Paul, crucified for you? Were any of you baptized in the name of Paul?
- I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius,
- for now no one can say they were baptized in my name.
Acts 21:38
- "Aren't you the Egyptian who led a rebellion some time ago and took four thousand members of the Assassins out into the desert?"

- These people always cause trouble. Their minds are corrupt, and they don't tell the truth. To them religion is just a way to get rich.

- They have left the path of truth, preaching the lie that the resurrection of the dead has already occurred; and they have undermined the faith of some.

- Besides, they are likely to become lazy and spend their time gossiping from house to house, getting into other people's business and saying things they shouldn't.
