12: Enemy kings and their armies flee, while the women of Israel divide the plunder.

"The kings of Canaan fought at Taanach near Megiddo's springs, but they carried off no treasures of battle.

The following is a list of the kings Joshua and the Israelite armies defeated on the west side of the Jordan, from Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon to Mount Halak, which leads up to Seir. (Joshua allotted this land to the tribes of Israel as their inheritance,
including the hill country, the western foothills, the Jordan Valley, the mountain slopes, the Judean wilderness, and the Negev. The people who lived in this region were the Hittites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.) These are the kings Israel defeated:
The king of Jericho The king of Ai, near Bethel
The king of Jerusalem The king of Hebron
The king of Jarmuth The king of Lachish

Do you think anyone will listen to you when you talk like this? We share and share alike--those who go to battle and those who guard the equipment."

Then divide the plunder into two parts, and give half to the men who fought the battle and half to the rest of the people.

Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, shouting to the vultures flying high in the sky: "Come! Gather together for the great banquet God has prepared.
Come and eat the flesh of kings, captains, and strong warriors; of horses and their riders; and of all humanity, both free and slave, small and great."
Then I saw the beast gathering the kings of the earth and their armies in order to fight against the one sitting on the horse and his army.
And the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who did mighty miracles on behalf of the beast--miracles that deceived all who had accepted the mark of the beast and who worshiped his statue. Both the beast and his false prophet were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.

So Moses and Eleazar the priest accepted the gifts from the military commanders and brought the gold to the Tabernacle as a reminder to the LORD that the people of Israel belong to him.

Then the kings of the earth, the rulers, the generals, the wealthy people, the people with great power, and every slave and every free person--all hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains.

In a single campaign Joshua conquered all these kings and their land, for the LORD, the God of Israel, was fighting for his people.

All five of the Midianite kings--Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba--died in the battle. They also killed Balaam son of Beor with the sword.
Then the Israelite army captured the Midianite women and children and seized their cattle and flocks and all their wealth as plunder.

`They are dividing the captured goods they found--a woman or two for every man. There are gorgeous robes for Sisera, and colorful, beautifully embroidered robes for me.'

Their chariot wheels began to come off, making their chariots impossible to drive. "Let's get out of here!" the Egyptians shouted. "The LORD is fighting for Israel against us!"
