Psalms 24:3

3: Who may climb the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place?

Who may worship in your sanctuary, LORD? Who may enter your presence on your holy hill?

Since we are receiving a Kingdom that cannot be destroyed, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.

No, you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to thousands of angels in joyful assembly.
You have come to the assembly of God's firstborn children, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God himself, who is the judge of all people. And you have come to the spirits of the redeemed in heaven who have now been made perfect.
You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which graciously forgives instead of crying out for vengeance as the blood of Abel did.

What joy for those you choose to bring near, those who live in your holy courts. What joys await us inside your holy Temple.

For the LORD has chosen Jerusalem; he has desired it as his home.
"This is my home where I will live forever," he said. "I will live here, for this is the place I desired.

Then King David was told, "The LORD has blessed Obed-edom's home and everything he has because of the Ark of God." So David went there and brought the Ark to the City of David with a great celebration.
After the men who were carrying it had gone six steps, they stopped and waited so David could sacrifice an ox and a fattened calf.
And David danced before the LORD with all his might, wearing a priestly tunic.
So David and all Israel brought up the Ark of the LORD with much shouting and blowing of trumpets.
But as the Ark of the LORD entered the City of David, Michal, the daughter of Saul, looked down from her window. When she saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD, she was filled with contempt for him.

Then David and the leaders of Israel and the generals of the army went to the home of Obed-edom to bring the Ark of the LORD's covenant up to Jerusalem with a great celebration.
And because God was clearly helping the Levites as they carried the Ark of the LORD's covenant, they sacrificed seven bulls and seven lambs.
David was dressed in a robe of fine linen, as were the Levites who carried the Ark, the singers, and Kenaniah the song leader. David was also wearing a priestly tunic.
So all Israel brought up the Ark of the LORD's covenant to Jerusalem with shouts of joy, the blowing of horns and trumpets, the crashing of cymbals, and loud playing on harps and lyres.

For the LORD declares, "I have placed my chosen king on the throne in Jerusalem, my holy city. "

"Look! I am sending my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. Then the Lord you are seeking will suddenly come to his Temple. The messenger of the covenant, whom you look for so eagerly, is surely coming," says the LORD Almighty.

When you ascended to the heights, you led a crowd of captives. You received gifts from the people, even from those who rebelled against you. Now the LORD God will live among us here.

Simon Peter said, "Lord, where are you going?" And Jesus replied, "You can't go with me now, but you will follow me later."

He chose instead the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which he loved.
There he built his towering sanctuary, as solid and enduring as the earth itself.

That is why the Scriptures say, "When he ascended to the heights, he led a crowd of captives and gave gifts to his people."
Notice that it says "he ascended." This means that Christ first came down to the lowly world in which we live.
The same one who came down is the one who ascended higher than all the heavens, so that his rule might fill the entire universe.

Then Moses said to Aaron, "This is what the LORD meant when he said, `I will show myself holy among those who are near me. I will be glorified before all the people.'" And Aaron was silent.

David now built several buildings for himself in the City of David. He also prepared a place for the Ark of God and set up a special tent there to shelter it.

"Don't cling to me," Jesus said, "for I haven't yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them that I am ascending to my Father and your Father, my God and your God."

The majestic mountains of Bashan stretch high into the sky.
Why do you look with envy, O rugged mountains, at Mount Zion, where God has chosen to live, where the LORD himself will live forever?
