17: Be good to your servant, that I may live and obey your word.

For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people.
And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with self-control, right conduct, and devotion to God,

But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so very much,
that even while we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God's special favor that you have been saved!)

I am your servant; deal with me in unfailing love, and teach me your principles.

For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Since we know that God is always right, we also know that all who do what is right are his children.

And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

Loving God means keeping his commandments, and really, that isn't difficult.
For every child of God defeats this evil world by trusting Christ to give the victory.

You must each make up your own mind as to how much you should give. Don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves the person who gives cheerfully.
And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.
As the Scriptures say, "Godly people give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will never be forgotten."
For God is the one who gives seed to the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will give you many opportunities to do good, and he will produce a great harvest of generosity in you.
Yes, you will be enriched so that you can give even more generously. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will break out in thanksgiving to God.

We have all benefited from the rich blessings he brought to us--one gracious blessing after another.

For the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you through Christ Jesus from the power of sin that leads to death.
The law of Moses could not save us, because of our sinful nature. But God put into effect a different plan to save us. He sent his own Son in a human body like ours, except that ours are sinful. God destroyed sin's control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins.
He did this so that the requirement of the law would be fully accomplished for us who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit.
