9: He commanded the Red Sea to divide, and a dry path appeared. He led Israel across the sea bottom that was as dry as a desert.

Then at your command, O LORD, at the blast of your breath, the bottom of the sea could be seen, and the foundations of the earth were laid bare.

At his command the oceans and rivers dry up, the lush pastures of Bashan and Carmel fade, and the green forests of Lebanon wilt.

Then they remembered those days of old when Moses led his people out of Egypt. They cried out, "Where is the one who brought Israel through the sea, with Moses as their shepherd? Where is the one who sent his Holy Spirit to be among his people?
Where is the one whose power divided the sea before them, when Moses lifted up his hand, establishing his reputation forever?
Where is the one who led them through the bottom of the sea? They were like fine stallions racing through the desert, never stumbling.
As with cattle going down into a peaceful valley, the Spirit of the LORD gave them rest. You led your people, LORD, and gained a magnificent reputation."

For he divided the sea before them and led them through! The water stood up like walls beside them!

Your road led through the sea, your pathway through the mighty waters--a pathway no one knew was there!
You led your people along that road like a flock of sheep, with Moses and Aaron as their shepherds.

Was I too weak to save you? Is that why the house is silent and empty when I come home? Is it because I have no power to rescue? No, that is not the reason! For I can speak to the sea and make it dry! I can turn rivers into deserts covered with dying fish.

Then Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the LORD opened up a path through the water with a strong east wind. The wind blew all that night, turning the seabed into dry land.
So the people of Israel walked through the sea on dry ground, with walls of water on each side!

Are you not the same today, the one who dried up the sea, making a path of escape when you saved your people?

So as the sun began to rise, Moses raised his hand over the sea. The water roared back into its usual place, and the LORD swept the terrified Egyptians into the surging currents.
The waters covered all the chariots and charioteers--the entire army of Pharaoh. Of all the Egyptians who had chased the Israelites into the sea, not a single one survived.
The people of Israel had walked through the middle of the sea on dry land, as the water stood up like a wall on both sides.

They will join forces to swoop down on Philistia to the west. Together they will attack and plunder the nations to the east. They will occupy all the lands of Edom, Moab, and Ammon.
The LORD will make a dry path through the Red Sea. He will wave his hand over the Euphrates River, sending a mighty wind to divide it into seven streams that can easily be crossed.
He will make a highway from Assyria for the remnant there, just as he did for Israel long ago when they returned from Egypt.

The Red Sea saw them coming and hurried out of their way! The water of the Jordan River turned away.
The mountains skipped like rams, the little hills like lambs!
What's wrong, Red Sea, that made you hurry out of their way? What happened, Jordan River, that you turned away?
Why, mountains, did you skip like rams? Why, little hills, like lambs?
Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Israel.

And Jesus answered, "Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!" Then he stood up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly all was calm.

But he led his own people like a flock of sheep, guiding them safely through the wilderness.
He kept them safe so they were not afraid; but the sea closed in upon their enemies.

He made a dry path through the Red Sea, and his people went across on foot. Come, let us rejoice in who he is.

You divided the sea for your people so they could walk through on dry land! And then you hurled their enemies into the depths of the sea. They sank like stones beneath the mighty waters.

Give thanks to him who parted the Red Sea. His faithful love endures forever.
He led Israel safely through, His faithful love endures forever.
but he hurled Pharaoh and his army into the sea. His faithful love endures forever.
Give thanks to him who led his people through the wilderness. His faithful love endures forever.
