10: The bloodthirsty hate the honest, but the upright seek out the honest.

but he did not accept Cain and his offering. This made Cain very angry and dejected.

Herodias was enraged and wanted John killed in revenge, but without Herod's approval she was powerless.

"When the world hates you, remember it hated me before it hated you.
The world would love you if you belonged to it, but you don't. I chose you to come out of the world, and so it hates you.

We must not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and killed his brother. And why did he kill him? Because Cain had been doing what was evil, and his brother had been doing what was right.
So don't be surprised, dear brothers and sisters, if the world hates you.

King Saul immediately sent for Ahimelech and all his family, who served as priests at Nob.
When they arrived, Saul shouted at him, "Listen to me, you son of Ahitub!What is it, my king?" Ahimelech asked.
"Why have you and David conspired against me?" Saul demanded. "Why did you give him food and a sword? Why have you inquired of God for him? Why did you encourage him to revolt against me and to come here and attack me?"
"But sir," Ahimelech replied, "is there anyone among all your servants who is as faithful as David, your son-in-law? Why, he is the captain of your bodyguard and a highly honored member of your household!
This was certainly not the first time I had consulted God for him! Please don't accuse me and my family in this matter, for I knew nothing of any plot against you."

Should they repay evil for good? They have set a trap to kill me, though I pleaded for them and tried to protect them from your anger.

Then the king was very sorry, but he was embarrassed to break his oath in front of his guests.
So he sent an executioner to the prison to cut off John's head and bring it to him. The soldier beheaded John in the prison,
