Proverbs 23:22

22: Listen to your father, who gave you life, and don't despise your mother's experience when she is old.

Listen, my child, to what your father teaches you. Don't neglect your mother's teaching.

Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do.
"Honor your father and mother." This is the first of the Ten Commandments that ends with a promise.

The eye that mocks a father and despises a mother will be plucked out by ravens of the valley and eaten by vultures.

When Jesus saw his mother standing there beside the disciple he loved, he said to her, "Woman, he is your son."
And he said to this disciple, "She is your mother." And from then on this disciple took her into his home.

"Suppose a man has a stubborn, rebellious son who will not obey his father or mother, even though they discipline him.
In such cases, the father and mother must take the son before the leaders of the town.
They must declare: `This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious and refuses to obey. He is a worthless drunkard.'
Then all the men of the town must stone him to death. In this way, you will cleanse this evil from among you, and all Israel will hear about it and be afraid.

Each of you must show respect for your mother and father, and you must always observe my Sabbath days of rest, for I, the LORD, am your God.

For instance, Moses gave you this law from God: 'Honor your father and mother,' and 'Anyone who speaks evil of father or mother must be put to death.'

`Cursed is anyone who despises father or mother.' And all the people will reply, `Amen.'

For instance, God says, 'Honor your father and mother,' and 'Anyone who speaks evil of father or mother must be put to death.'
But you say, 'You don't need to honor your parents by caring for their needs if you give the money to God instead.'
And so, by your own tradition, you nullify the direct commandment of God.
