12: The LORD preserves knowledge, but he ruins the plans of the deceitful.

And these teachers fight the truth just as Jannes and Jambres fought against Moses. Their minds are depraved, and their faith is counterfeit.
But they won't get away with this for long. Someday everyone will recognize what fools they are, just as happened with Jannes and Jambres.

The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. What a fool you have been! From now on, you will be at war."

But she was given two wings like those of a great eagle. This allowed her to fly to a place prepared for her in the wilderness, where she would be cared for and protected from the dragon for a time, times, and half a time.
Then the dragon tried to drown the woman with a flood of water that flowed from its mouth.
But the earth helped her by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that gushed out from the mouth of the dragon.

But if it is of God, you will not be able to stop them. You may even find yourselves fighting against God."

Instantly, an angel of the Lord struck Herod with a sickness, because he accepted the people's worship instead of giving the glory to God. So he was consumed with worms and died.
But God's Good News was spreading rapidly, and there were many new believers.

Simon Peter answered, "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God."
Jesus replied, "You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being.
Now I say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.

A man named Simon had been a sorcerer there for many years, claiming to be someone great.
The Samaritan people, from the least to the greatest, often spoke of him as "the Great One--the Power of God."
He was very influential because of the magic he performed.
But now the people believed Philip's message of Good News concerning the Kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ. As a result, many men and women were baptized.

He frustrates the plans of the crafty, so their efforts will not succeed.
He catches those who think they are wise in their own cleverness, so that their cunning schemes are thwarted.

But Elymas, the sorcerer (as his name means in Greek), interfered and urged the governor to pay no attention to what Saul and Barnabas said. He was trying to turn the governor away from the Christian faith.
Then Saul, also known as Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked the sorcerer in the eye and said,
"You son of the Devil, full of every sort of trickery and villainy, enemy of all that is good, will you never stop perverting the true ways of the Lord?
And now the Lord has laid his hand of punishment upon you, and you will be stricken awhile with blindness." Instantly mist and darkness fell upon him, and he began wandering around begging for someone to take his hand and lead him.
When the governor saw what had happened, he believed and was astonished at what he learned about the Lord.

Then at last they will respect and glorify the name of the LORD throughout the world. For he will come like a flood tide driven by the breath of the LORD.
"The Redeemer will come to Jerusalem, "says the LORD, "to buy back those in Israel who have turned from their sins.
And this is my covenant with them," says the LORD. "My Spirit will not leave them, and neither will these words I have given you. They will be on your lips and on the lips of your children and your children's children forever. I, the LORD, have spoken!

And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will be clothed in sackcloth and will prophesy during those 1,260 days."
These two prophets are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of all the earth.
If anyone tries to harm them, fire flashes from the mouths of the prophets and consumes their enemies. This is how anyone who tries to harm them must die.
They have power to shut the skies so that no rain will fall for as long as they prophesy. And they have the power to turn the rivers and oceans into blood, and to send every kind of plague upon the earth as often as they wish.
When they complete their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the bottomless pit will declare war against them. He will conquer them and kill them.

Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will consume with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming.
