4: Lazy people are soon poor; hard workers get rich.

Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.

If you are too lazy to plow in the right season, you will have no food at the harvest.

Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper and be satisfied.

Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and be wise!
Even though they have no prince, governor, or ruler to make them work,
they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter.
But you, lazybones, how long will you sleep? When will you wake up? I want you to learn this lesson:
A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest--

So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and steady, always enthusiastic about the Lord's work, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.

If you love sleep, you will end in poverty. Keep your eyes open, and there will be plenty to eat!

It is possible to give freely and become more wealthy, but those who are stingy will lose everything.

So make every effort to apply the benefits of these promises to your life. Then your faith will produce a life of moral excellence. A life of moral excellence leads to knowing God better.
Knowing God leads to self-control. Self-control leads to patient endurance, and patient endurance leads to godliness.
Godliness leads to love for other Christians, and finally you will grow to have genuine love for everyone.
The more you grow like this, the more you will become productive and useful in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
But those who fail to develop these virtues are blind or, at least, very shortsighted. They have already forgotten that God has cleansed them from their old life of sin.

But you shouldn't be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that I, the Son of Man, can give you. For God the Father has sent me for that very purpose."

I walked by the field of a lazy person, the vineyard of one lacking sense.
I saw that it was overgrown with thorns. It was covered with weeds, and its walls were broken down.
Then, as I looked and thought about it, I learned this lesson:
A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest--
and poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.

Our great desire is that you will keep right on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true.
Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, you will follow the example of those who are going to inherit God's promises because of their faith and patience.
