7: Then you seers will cover your faces in shame, and you diviners will be disgraced. And you will admit that your messages were not from God."

"No one will be boasting then of a prophetic gift! No one will wear prophet's clothes to try to fool the people.

I am the one who exposes the false prophets as liars by causing events to happen that are contrary to their predictions. I cause wise people to give bad advice, thus proving them to be fools.

Then you will do as Ezekiel has done. You will not mourn in public or console yourselves by eating the food brought to you by sympathetic friends.

He asked the LORD what he should do, but the LORD refused to answer him, either by dreams or by sacred lots or by the prophets.

"The time is surely coming," says the Sovereign LORD, "when I will send a famine on the land--not a famine of bread or water but of hearing the words of the LORD.

You may sigh but only quietly. Let there be no wailing at her grave. Do not uncover your head or take off your sandals. Do not perform the rituals of mourning or accept any food brought to you by consoling friends."

"Those who suffer from any contagious skin disease must tear their clothing and allow their hair to hang loose. Then, as they go from place to place, they must cover their mouth and call out, `Unclean! Unclean!'

"Call out the demon hordes you have worshiped all these years. Ask them to help you strike terror into the hearts of people once again.
You have more than enough advisers, astrologers, and stargazers. Let them stand up and save you from what the future holds.
But they are as useless as dried grass burning in a fire. They cannot even save themselves! You will get no help from them at all. Their hearth is not a place to sit for warmth.

And these teachers fight the truth just as Jannes and Jambres fought against Moses. Their minds are depraved, and their faith is counterfeit.
But they won't get away with this for long. Someday everyone will recognize what fools they are, just as happened with Jannes and Jambres.

If you don't tell me the dream, you will be condemned. You have conspired to tell me lies in hopes that something will change. But tell me the dream, and then I will know that you can tell me what it means."
The astrologers replied to the king, "There isn't a man alive who can tell Your Majesty his dream! And no king, however great and powerful, has ever asked such a thing of any magician, enchanter, or astrologer!
This is an impossible thing the king requires. No one except the gods can tell you your dream, and they do not live among people."

Even the magicians were unable to stand before Moses, because the boils had broken out on them, too.

We see no miraculous signs as evidence that you will save us. All the prophets are gone; no one can tell us when it will end.

(In those days if people wanted a message from God, they would say, "Let's go and ask the seer," for prophets used to be called seers.)

"Why have you disturbed me by calling me back?" Samuel asked. "Because I am in deep trouble," Saul replied. "The Philistines are at war with us, and God has left me and won't reply by prophets or dreams. So I have called for you to tell me what to do."

All the nations of the world will stand amazed at what the LORD will do for you. They will be embarrassed that their power is so insignificant. They will stand in silent awe, deaf to everything around them.

Pharaoh's magicians tried to do the same thing with their secret arts, but this time they failed. And the gnats covered all the people and animals.
"This is the finger of God!" the magicians exclaimed to Pharaoh. But Pharaoh's heart remained hard and stubborn. He wouldn't listen to them, just as the LORD had predicted.

So Saul asked God, "Should we go after the Philistines? Will you help us defeat them?" But God made no reply that day.
