Matthew 12:2
2: Some Pharisees saw them do it and protested, "Your disciples shouldn't be doing that! It's against the law to work by harvesting grain on the Sabbath."
Matthew 12:10

Exodus 20:9
- Six days a week are set apart for your daily duties and regular work,
- but the seventh day is a day of rest dedicated to the LORD your God. On that day no one in your household may do any kind of work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your livestock, and any foreigners living among you.
- For in six days the LORD made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything in them; then he rested on the seventh day. That is why the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy.
Mark 3:2
- Since it was the Sabbath, Jesus' enemies watched him closely. Would he heal the man's hand on the Sabbath? If he did, they planned to condemn him.
- Jesus said to the man, "Come and stand in front of everyone."
- Then he turned to his critics and asked, "Is it legal to do good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing harm? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?" But they wouldn't answer him.
- He looked around at them angrily, because he was deeply disturbed by their hard hearts. Then he said to the man, "Reach out your hand." The man reached out his hand, and it became normal again!

Luke 13:10
- One Sabbath day as Jesus was teaching in a synagogue,
- he saw a woman who had been crippled by an evil spirit. She had been bent double for eighteen years and was unable to stand up straight.
- When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, "Woman, you are healed of your sickness!"
- Then he touched her, and instantly she could stand straight. How she praised and thanked God!
- But the leader in charge of the synagogue was indignant that Jesus had healed her on the Sabbath day. "There are six days of the week for working," he said to the crowd. "Come on those days to be healed, not on the Sabbath."
John 9:14
- Now as it happened, Jesus had healed the man on a Sabbath.
- The Pharisees asked the man all about it. So he told them, "He smoothed the mud over my eyes, and when it was washed away, I could see!"
- Some of the Pharisees said, "This man Jesus is not from God, for he is working on the Sabbath." Others said, "But how could an ordinary sinner do such miraculous signs?" So there was a deep division of opinion among them.
John 5:16

- But Jesus knew their thoughts. He said to the man with the deformed hand, "Come and stand here where everyone can see." So the man came forward.
- Then Jesus said to his critics, "I have a question for you. Is it legal to do good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing harm? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?"

Exodus 35:2
- Each week, work for six days only. The seventh day is a day of total rest, a holy day that belongs to the LORD. Anyone who works on that day will die.
Numbers 15:32
- One day while the people of Israel were in the wilderness, they caught a man gathering wood on the Sabbath day.
- He was apprehended and taken before Moses, Aaron, and the rest of the community.
- They held him in custody because they did not know what to do with him.
- Then the LORD said to Moses, "The man must be put to death! The whole community must stone him outside the camp."
- So the whole community took the man outside the camp and stoned him to death, just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
Exodus 31:15
- Work six days only, but the seventh day must be a day of total rest. I repeat: Because the LORD considers it a holy day, anyone who works on the Sabbath must be put to death.
- The people of Israel must keep the Sabbath day forever.
- It is a permanent sign of my covenant with them. For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, but he rested on the seventh day and was refreshed."
Exodus 23:12
- "Work for six days, and rest on the seventh. This will give your ox and your donkey a chance to rest. It will also allow the people of your household, including your slaves and visitors, to be refreshed.
