Matthew 1:2
2: Abraham was the father of Isaac. Isaac was the father of Jacob. Jacob was the father of Judah and his brothers.
Acts 7:8
- God also gave Abraham the covenant of circumcision at that time. And so Isaac, Abraham's son, was circumcised when he was eight days old. Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob was the father of the twelve patriarchs of the Jewish nation.
Hebrews 11:17
- It was by faith that Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice when God was testing him. Abraham, who had received God's promises, was ready to sacrifice his only son, Isaac,

Genesis 25:26

1 Chronicles 5:1
- The oldest son of Israel was Reuben. But since he dishonored his father by sleeping with one of his father's concubines, his birthright was given to the sons of his brother Joseph. For this reason, Reuben is not listed in the genealogy as the firstborn son.
- It was the descendants of Judah that became the most powerful tribe and provided a ruler for the nation, but the birthright belonged to Joseph.

- Abraham was the father of Isaac. The sons of Isaac were Esau and Israel.
1 Chronicles 2:1
- The sons of Israel were Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun,
- Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.
- Judah had three sons through Bathshua, a Canaanite woman. Their names were Er, Onan, and Shelah. But the oldest son, Er, was a wicked man, so the LORD killed him.
- Later Judah had twin sons through Tamar, his widowed daughter-in-law. Their names were Perez and Zerah. So Judah had five sons in all.
- The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.
1 Chronicles 1:28
- The sons of Abraham were Isaac and Ishmael.
Genesis 29:32
- So Leah became pregnant and had a son. She named him Reuben, for she said, "The LORD has noticed my misery, and now my husband will love me."
- She soon became pregnant again and had another son. She named him Simeon, for she said, "The LORD heard that I was unloved and has given me another son."
- Again she became pregnant and had a son. She named him Levi, for she said, "Surely now my husband will feel affection for me, since I have given him three sons!"
- Once again she became pregnant and had a son. She named him Judah, for she said, "Now I will praise the LORD!" And then she stopped having children.
Genesis 49:8
- "Judah, your brothers will praise you. You will defeat your enemies. All your relatives will bow before you.
- Judah is a young lion that has finished eating its prey. Like a lion he crouches and lies down; like a lioness--who will dare to rouse him?
- The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from his descendants, until the coming of the one to whom it belongs, the one whom all nations will obey.

Genesis 30:5
- Bilhah became pregnant and presented him with a son.
- Rachel named him Dan, for she said, "God has vindicated me! He has heard my request and given me a son."
- Then Bilhah became pregnant again and gave Jacob a second son.
- Rachel named him Naphtali, for she said, "I have had an intense struggle with my sister, and I am winning!"
- Meanwhile, Leah realized that she wasn't getting pregnant anymore, so she gave her servant, Zilpah, to Jacob to be his wife.
Genesis 46:8
- These are the names of the Israelites, the descendants of Jacob, who went with him to Egypt: Reuben was Jacob's oldest son.
- The sons of Reuben were Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.
- The sons of Simeon were Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Zohar, and Shaul. (Shaul's mother was a Canaanite woman.)
- The sons of Levi were Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
- The sons of Judah were Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah. (But Er and Onan had died in the land of Canaan.) The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.
Revelation 7:5

Hebrews 11:11
- It was by faith that Sarah together with Abraham was able to have a child, even though they were too old and Sarah was barren. Abraham believed that God would keep his promise.
Genesis 35:16
- Leaving Bethel, they traveled on toward Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem). But Rachel's pains of childbirth began while they were still some distance away.
- After a very hard delivery, the midwife finally exclaimed, "Don't be afraid--you have another son!"
- Rachel was about to die, but with her last breath she named him Ben-oni; the baby's father, however, called him Benjamin.
- So Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).
Isaiah 41:8
- "But as for you, Israel my servant, Jacob my chosen one, descended from my friend Abraham,
Joshua 24:2
- Joshua said to the people, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Your ancestors, including Terah, the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the Euphrates River, and they worshiped other gods.
- But I took your ancestor Abraham from the land beyond the Euphrates and led him into the land of Canaan. I gave him many descendants through his son Isaac.
- To Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau. To Esau I gave the hill country of Seir, while Jacob and his children went down into Egypt.
Hebrews 7:14
- What I mean is, our Lord came from the tribe of Judah, and Moses never mentioned Judah in connection with the priesthood.

Romans 9:7
- Just the fact that they are descendants of Abraham doesn't make them truly Abraham's children. For the Scriptures say, "Isaac is the son through whom your descendants will be counted," though Abraham had other children, too.
- This means that Abraham's physical descendants are not necessarily children of God. It is the children of the promise who are considered to be Abraham's children.
- For God had promised, "Next year I will return, and Sarah will have a son."
- This son was our ancestor Isaac. When he grew up, he married Rebekah, who gave birth to twins.
- But before they were born, before they had done anything good or bad, she received a message from God. (This message proves that God chooses according to his own plan,
