27: Let me illustrate this. You can't enter a strong man's house and rob him without first tying him up. Only then can his house be robbed!

Who can snatch the plunder of war from the hands of a warrior? Who can demand that a tyrant let his captives go?
But the LORD says, "The captives of warriors will be released, and the plunder of tyrants will be retrieved. For I will fight those who fight you, and I will save your children.
I will feed your enemies with their own flesh. They will be drunk with rivers of their own blood. All the world will know that I, the LORD, am your Savior and Redeemer, the Mighty One of Israel. "

Let me illustrate this. You can't enter a strong man's house and rob him without first tying him up. Only then can his house be robbed!

A final word: Be strong with the Lord's mighty power.
Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies and tricks of the Devil.
For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms.
Use every piece of God's armor to resist the enemy in the time of evil, so that after the battle you will still be standing firm.

For when Satan, who is completely armed, guards his palace, it is safe--
until someone who is stronger attacks and overpowers him, strips him of his weapons, and carries off his belongings.
"Anyone who isn't helping me opposes me, and anyone who isn't working with me is actually working against me.

Then I saw an angel come down from heaven with the key to the bottomless pit and a heavy chain in his hand.
He seized the dragon--that old serpent, the Devil, Satan--and bound him in chains for a thousand years.
The angel threw him into the bottomless pit, which he then shut and locked so Satan could not deceive the nations anymore until the thousand years were finished. Afterward he would be released again for a little while.

But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won your fight with these false prophets, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.

I will give him the honors of one who is mighty and great, because he exposed himself to death. He was counted among those who were sinners. He bore the sins of many and interceded for sinners.

The time of judgment for the world has come, when the prince of this world will be cast out.

Then there was war in heaven. Michael and the angels under his command fought the dragon and his angels.
And the dragon lost the battle and was forced out of heaven.
This great dragon--the ancient serpent called the Devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world--was thrown down to the earth with all his angels.

In that day the LORD will take his terrible, swift sword and punish Leviathan, the swiftly moving serpent, the coiling, writhing serpent, the dragon of the sea.

The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, "Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!"
"Yes," he told them, "I saw Satan falling from heaven as a flash of lightning!
And I have given you authority over all the power of the enemy, and you can walk among snakes and scorpions and crush them. Nothing will injure you.
But don't rejoice just because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered as citizens of heaven."

But when people keep on sinning, it shows they belong to the Devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy these works of the Devil.

In this way, God disarmed the evil rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross of Christ.

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me, because the LORD has appointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to announce that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.

From now on, you and the woman will be enemies, and your offspring and her offspring will be enemies. He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."

Because God's children are human beings--made of flesh and blood--Jesus also became flesh and blood by being born in human form. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the Devil, who had the power of death.
