- Meanwhile, Peter was below in the courtyard. One of the servant girls who worked for the high priest
- noticed Peter warming himself at the fire. She looked at him closely and then said, "You were one of those with Jesus, the Nazarene."
- Peter denied it. "I don't know what you're talking about," he said, and he went out into the entryway. Just then, a rooster crowed.
- The servant girl saw him standing there and began telling the others, "That man is definitely one of them!"
- Peter denied it again. A little later some other bystanders began saying to Peter, "You must be one of them because you are from Galilee."
Luke 22:54
- So they arrested him and led him to the high priest's residence, and Peter was following far behind.
- The guards lit a fire in the courtyard and sat around it, and Peter joined them there.
- A servant girl noticed him in the firelight and began staring at him. Finally she said, "This man was one of Jesus' followers!"
- Peter denied it. "Woman," he said, "I don't even know the man!"
- After a while someone else looked at him and said, "You must be one of them!No, man, I'm not!" Peter replied.

- But Peter denied it in front of everyone. "I don't know what you are talking about," he said.
