  3. Then when they were alone, he turned to the disciples and said, "How privileged you are to see what you have seen.
  4. I tell you, many prophets and kings have longed to see and hear what you have seen and heard, but they could not."

1 Timothy 3:16

  1. Without question, this is the great mystery of our faith: Christ appeared in the flesh and was shown to be righteous by the Spirit. He was seen by angels and was announced to the nations. He was believed on in the world and was taken up into heaven.

1 Peter 1:10

  1. This salvation was something the prophets wanted to know more about. They prophesied about this gracious salvation prepared for you, even though they had many questions as to what it all could mean.
  2. They wondered what the Spirit of Christ within them was talking about when he told them in advance about Christ's suffering and his great glory afterward. They wondered when and to whom all this would happen.
  3. They were told that these things would not happen during their lifetime, but many years later, during yours. And now this Good News has been announced by those who preached to you in the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. It is all so wonderful that even the angels are eagerly watching these things happen.

1 Corinthians 12:11

  1. It is the one and only Holy Spirit who distributes these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.

Isaiah 29:14

  1. Because of this, I will do wonders among these hypocrites. I will show that human wisdom is foolish and even the most brilliant people lack understanding."

1 Corinthians 2:7

  1. No, the wisdom we speak of is the secret wisdom of God, which was hidden in former times, though he made it for our benefit before the world began.
  2. But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would never have crucified our glorious Lord.
  3. That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him."
  4. But we know these things because God has revealed them to us by his Spirit, and his Spirit searches out everything and shows us even God's deep secrets.
  5. No one can know what anyone else is really thinking except that person alone, and no one can know God's thoughts except God's own Spirit.
