29: As they came to the towns of Bethphage and Bethany, on the Mount of Olives, he sent two disciples ahead.
Matthew 21:17
- Then he returned to Bethany, where he stayed overnight.
Matthew 21:1
- As Jesus and the disciples approached Jerusalem, they came to the town of Bethphage on the Mount of Olives. Jesus sent two of them on ahead.
- "Go into the village over there," he said, "and you will see a donkey tied there, with its colt beside it. Untie them and bring them here.
- If anyone asks what you are doing, just say, 'The Lord needs them,' and he will immediately send them."
- This was done to fulfill the prophecy,
- "Tell the people of Israel, 'Look, your King is coming to you. He is humble, riding on a donkey--even on a donkey's colt.'"
Acts 1:12
- The apostles were at the Mount of Olives when this happened, so they walked the half mile back to Jerusalem.
Zechariah 14:4
- On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives will split apart, making a wide valley running from east to west, for half the mountain will move toward the north and half toward the south.

Luke 19:37
- As they reached the place where the road started down from the Mount of Olives, all of his followers began to shout and sing as they walked along, praising God for all the wonderful miracles they had seen.
John 12:12
- The next day, the news that Jesus was on the way to Jerusalem swept through the city. A huge crowd of Passover visitors
- took palm branches and went down the road to meet him. They shouted, "Praise God! Bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hail to the King of Israel!"
- Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, fulfilling the prophecy that said:
- "Don't be afraid, people of Israel. Look, your King is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt."
- His disciples didn't realize at the time that this was a fulfillment of prophecy. But after Jesus entered into his glory, they remembered that these Scriptures had come true before their eyes.
Luke 24:50
- Then Jesus led them to Bethany, and lifting his hands to heaven, he blessed them.
