1: Afterward Jesus returned to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish holy days.
Deuteronomy 16:16
- "Each year every man in Israel must celebrate these three festivals: the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Harvest, and the Festival of Shelters. They must appear before the LORD your God at the place he chooses on each of these occasions, and they must bring a gift to the LORD.
Exodus 23:14
- "Each year you must celebrate three festivals in my honor.
- The first is the Festival of Unleavened Bread. For seven days you are to eat bread made without yeast, just as I commanded you before. This festival will be an annual event at the appointed time in early spring, for that is the anniversary of your exodus from Egypt. Everyone must bring me a sacrifice at that time.
- You must also celebrate the Festival of Harvest, when you bring me the first crops of your harvest. Finally, you are to celebrate the Festival of the Final Harvest at the end of the harvest season.
- At these three times each year, every man in Israel must appear before the Sovereign LORD.
Exodus 34:23

Leviticus 23:2
- "Give the Israelites instructions regarding the LORD's appointed festivals, the days when all of you will be summoned to worship me.
- You may work for six days each week, but on the seventh day all work must come to a complete stop. It is the LORD's Sabbath day of complete rest, a holy day to assemble for worship. It must be observed wherever you live.
- In addition to the Sabbath, the LORD has established festivals, the holy occasions to be observed at the proper time each year.
