8: Just as you can hear the wind but can't tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can't explain how people are born of the Spirit."

If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done.
God's ways are as hard to discern as the pathways of the wind, and as mysterious as a tiny baby being formed in a mother's womb.

No one can know what anyone else is really thinking except that person alone, and no one can know God's thoughts except God's own Spirit.

Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm in the skies above them, and it filled the house where they were meeting.

Then he said to me, "Speak to the winds and say: `This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Come, O breath, from the four winds! Breathe into these dead bodies so that they may live again.'"

Jesus also said, "Here is another illustration of what the Kingdom of God is like: A farmer planted seeds in a field,
and then he went on with his other activities. As the days went by, the seeds sprouted and grew without the farmer's help,
because the earth produces crops on its own. First a leaf blade pushes through, then the heads of wheat are formed, and finally the grain ripens.
And as soon as the grain is ready, the farmer comes and harvests it with a sickle."

They are reborn! This is not a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan--this rebirth comes from God.

After this prayer, the building where they were meeting shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. And they preached God's message with boldness.

Do you understand how he balances the clouds with wonderful perfection and skill?
When you are sweltering in your clothes and the south wind dies down and everything is still,

For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
"The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry.
It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.
You will live in joy and peace. The mountains and hills will burst into song, and the trees of the field will clap their hands!
Where once there were thorns, cypress trees will grow. Where briers grew, myrtles will sprout up. This miracle will bring great honor to the LORD's name; it will be an everlasting sign of his power and love.

Since we know that God is always right, we also know that all who do what is right are his children.

God's breath sends the ice, freezing wide expanses of water.
He loads the clouds with moisture, and they flash with his lightning.
The clouds turn around and around under his direction. They do whatever he commands throughout the earth.
He causes things to happen on earth, either as a punishment or as a sign of his unfailing love.

It is the one and only Holy Spirit who distributes these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.

We cannot look at the sun, for it shines brightly in the sky when the wind clears away the clouds.
Golden splendor comes from the mountain of God. He is clothed in dazzling splendor.
We cannot imagine the power of the Almighty, yet he is so just and merciful that he does not oppress us.

But when people keep on sinning, it shows they belong to the Devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy these works of the Devil.
Those who have been born into God's family do not sin, because God's life is in them. So they can't keep on sinning, because they have been born of God.

"A good tree can't produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can't produce good fruit.
A tree is identified by the kind of fruit it produces. Figs never grow on thornbushes or grapes on bramble bushes.
