7: Jesus replied, "You don't understand now why I am doing it; someday you will."
John 12:16
- His disciples didn't realize at the time that this was a fulfillment of prophecy. But after Jesus entered into his glory, they remembered that these Scriptures had come true before their eyes.

- For examples of patience in suffering, dear brothers and sisters, look at the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.
- We give great honor to those who endure under suffering. Job is an example of a man who endured patiently. From his experience we see how the Lord's plan finally ended in good, for he is full of tenderness and mercy.
John 13:10
- Jesus replied, "A person who has bathed all over does not need to wash, except for the feet, to be entirely clean. And you are clean, but that isn't true of everyone here."
- For Jesus knew who would betray him. That is what he meant when he said, "Not all of you are clean."
- After washing their feet, he put on his robe again and sat down and asked, "Do you understand what I was doing?
John 14:26
- But when the Father sends the Counselor as my representative--and by the Counselor I mean the Holy Spirit--he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I myself have told you.
