Joel 3:19

19: Egypt will become a wasteland and Edom a wilderness, because they attacked Judah and killed her innocent people.

This message came to me concerning Egypt: Look! The LORD is advancing against Egypt, riding on a swift cloud. The idols of Egypt tremble. The hearts of the Egyptians melt with fear.
"I will make the Egyptians fight against each other--brother against brother, neighbor against neighbor, city against city, province against province.
The Egyptians will lose heart, and I will confuse their plans. They will plead with their idols for wisdom. They will call on spirits, mediums, and psychics to show them which way to turn.
I will hand Egypt over to a hard, cruel master, to a fierce king," says the Lord, the LORD Almighty.
The waters of the Nile will fail to rise and flood the fields. The riverbed will be parched and dry.

The LORD will make a dry path through the Red Sea. He will wave his hand over the Euphrates River, sending a mighty wind to divide it into seven streams that can easily be crossed.

and I rejected Esau and devastated his hill country. I turned Esau's inheritance into a desert for jackals."
And Esau's descendants in Edom may say, "We have been shattered, but we will rebuild the ruins." But this is what the LORD Almighty says: "They may try to rebuild, but I will demolish them again! Their country will be known as `The Land of Wickedness,' and their people will be called `The People with Whom the LORD Is Forever Angry.'

Are you rejoicing in the land of Uz, O people of Edom? But you, too, must drink from the cup of the LORD's anger. You, too, will be stripped naked in your drunkenness.

May Babylon be repaid for all the violence she did to us," say the people of Jerusalem. "May the people of Babylonia be paid in full for all the blood they spilled," says Jerusalem.

Who is this who comes from Edom, from the city of Bozrah, with his clothing stained red? Who is this in royal robes, marching in the greatness of his strength? "It is I, the LORD, announcing your salvation! It is I, the LORD, who is mighty to save!"
Why are your clothes so red, as if you have been treading out grapes?
"I have trodden the winepress alone; no one was there to help me. In my anger I have trampled my enemies as if they were grapes. In my fury I have trampled my foes. It is their blood that has stained my clothes.
For the time has come for me to avenge my people, to ransom them from their oppressors.
I looked, but no one came to help my people. I was amazed and appalled at what I saw. So I executed vengeance alone; unaided, I passed down judgment.

This is what the LORD says: "The people of Edom have sinned again and again, and I will not forget it. I will not let them go unpunished any longer! They chased down their relatives, the Israelites, with swords. They showed them no mercy and were unrelenting in their anger.
So I will send down fire on Teman, and the fortresses of Bozrah will be destroyed."

Come here and listen, O nations of the earth. Let the world and everything in it hear my words.
For the LORD is enraged against the nations. His fury is against all their armies. He will completely destroy them, bringing about their slaughter.
Their dead will be left unburied, and the stench of rotting bodies will fill the land. The mountains will flow with their blood.
The heavens above will melt away and disappear like a rolled-up scroll. The stars will fall from the sky, just as withered leaves and fruit fall from a tree.
And when my sword has finished its work in the heavens, then watch. It will fall upon Edom, the nation I have completely destroyed.

Then this message came to me from the LORD:
"Son of man, look toward the land of Ammon and prophesy against its people.
Give the Ammonites this message from the Sovereign LORD: Hear the word of the Sovereign LORD! Because you scoffed when my Temple was desecrated, mocked Israel in her desolation, and laughed at Judah as she went away into exile,
I will allow nomads from the eastern deserts to overrun your country. They will set up their camps among you and pitch their tents on your land. They will harvest all your fruit and steal your livestock.
And I will turn the city of Rabbah into a pasture for camels, and all the land of the Ammonites into an enclosure for sheep. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

And if the people of Egypt refuse to attend the festival, the LORD will punish them with the same plague that he sends on the other nations who refuse to go.
Egypt and the other nations will all be punished if they don't go to celebrate the festival.

I will bring them back from Egypt and Assyria and resettle them in Gilead and Lebanon. There won't be enough room for them all!

"Edom will be an object of horror. All who pass by will be appalled and will gasp at the destruction they see there.

O LORD, remember what the Edomites did on the day the armies of Babylon captured Jerusalem. "Destroy it!" they yelled. "Level it to the ground!"

Again a message came to me from the LORD:
"Son of man, turn toward Mount Seir, and prophesy against its people.
Give them this message from the Sovereign LORD: I am your enemy, O Mount Seir, and I will raise my fist against you to destroy you completely.
I will demolish your cities and make you desolate, and then you will know that I am the LORD.
Your continual hatred for the people of Israel led you to butcher them when they were helpless, when I had already punished them for all their sins.

This is the vision that the Sovereign LORD revealed to Obadiah concerning the land of Edom. We have heard a message from the LORD that an ambassador was sent to the nations to say, "Get ready, everyone! Let's assemble our armies and attack Edom!"

"And why? Because of the violence you did to your close relatives in Israel. Now you will be destroyed completely and filled with shame forever.
For you deserted your relatives in Israel during their time of greatest need. You stood aloof, refusing to lift a finger to help when foreign invaders carried off their wealth and cast lots to divide up Jerusalem. You acted as though you were one of Israel's enemies.
"You shouldn't have done this! You shouldn't have gloated when they exiled your relatives to distant lands. You shouldn't have rejoiced because they were suffering such misfortune. You shouldn't have crowed over them as they suffered these disasters.
You shouldn't have plundered the land of Israel when they were suffering such calamity. You shouldn't have gloated over the destruction of your relatives, looting their homes and making yourselves rich at their expense.
You shouldn't have stood at the crossroads, killing those who tried to escape. You shouldn't have captured the survivors, handing them over to their enemies in that terrible time of trouble.
