28: If so, I should be punished by the judges, for it would mean I had denied the God of heaven.

"Suppose a man or woman among you, in one of your towns that the LORD your God is giving you, has done evil in the sight of the LORD your God and has violated the covenant
by serving other gods or by worshiping the sun, the moon, or any of the forces of heaven, which I have strictly forbidden.

But there were also false prophets in Israel, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly teach their destructive heresies about God and even turn against their Master who bought them. Theirs will be a swift and terrible end.

Anyone who denies the Son doesn't have the Father either. But anyone who confesses the Son has the Father also.

Fair and honest people can reason with him, so I would be acquitted by my Judge.

"All right then," Joshua said, "destroy the idols among you, and turn your hearts to the LORD, the God of Israel."

Surely you wouldn't do such a thing, destroying the innocent with the guilty. Why, you would be treating the innocent and the guilty exactly the same! Surely you wouldn't do that! Should not the Judge of all the earth do what is right?"

Such people claim they know God, but they deny him by the way they live. They are despicable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.

You have come to the assembly of God's firstborn children, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God himself, who is the judge of all people. And you have come to the spirits of the redeemed in heaven who have now been made perfect.

I say this because some godless people have wormed their way in among you, saying that God's forgiveness allows us to live immoral lives. The fate of such people was determined long ago, for they have turned against our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
