28: A flood will sweep away his house. God's anger will descend on him in torrents.

Your ox will be butchered before your eyes, but you won't get a single bite of the meat. Your donkey will be driven away, never to be returned. Your sheep will be given to your enemies, and no one will be there to help you.

Riches won't help on the day of judgment, but right living is a safeguard against death.

Your silver and gold will be of no use to you on that day of the LORD's anger. For the whole land will be devoured by the fire of his jealousy. He will make a terrifying end of all the people on earth.

Look here, you rich people, weep and groan with anguish because of all the terrible troubles ahead of you.
Your wealth is rotting away, and your fine clothes are moth-eaten rags.
Your gold and silver have become worthless. The very wealth you were counting on will eat away your flesh in hell. This treasure you have accumulated will stand as evidence against you on the day of judgment.

The time is coming when everything you have--all the treasures stored up by your ancestors--will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left, says the LORD.

Their harvests are stolen, and their wealth satisfies the thirst of many others, not themselves!

And in one single moment all the wealth of the city is gone!" And all the shipowners and captains of the merchant ships and their crews will stand at a distance.

His children will beg from the poor, for he must give back his ill-gotten wealth.

And how do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul in the process? Is anything worth more than your soul?

His labors will not be rewarded. His wealth will bring him no joy.
For he oppressed the poor and left them destitute. He foreclosed on their homes.
He was always greedy but never satisfied. Of all the things he dreamed about, nothing remains.
Nothing is left after he finishes gorging himself; therefore, his prosperity will not endure.
"In the midst of plenty, he will run into trouble, and disasters will destroy him.

If they have a multitude of children, their children will die in war or starve to death.
Those who survive will be brought down to the grave by a plague, with no one to mourn them, not even their wives.
"Evil people may have all the money in the world, and they may store away mounds of clothing.
But the righteous will wear that clothing, and the innocent will divide all that money.
The houses built by the wicked are as fragile as a spiderweb, as flimsy as a shelter made of branches.
