42: Moab will no longer be a nation, for she has boasted against the LORD.

No one will ever brag about Moab again, for there is a plot against her life. In Heshbon plans have been completed to destroy her. `Come,' they say, `we will cut her off from being a nation.' The city of Madmen, too, will be silenced; the sword will follow you there.

`Whom do you think you have been insulting and ridiculing? Against whom did you raise your voice? At whom did you look in such proud condescension? It was the Holy One of Israel!

because Aram is no stronger than its capital, Damascus. And Damascus is no stronger than its king, Rezin. As for Israel, within sixty-five years it will be crushed and completely destroyed.

I know about her insolence," says the LORD, "but her boasts are false; they accomplish nothing.

And he spoke terrible words of blasphemy against God, slandering his name and all who live in heaven, who are his temple.

For others will treat you as you treat them. Whatever measure you use in judging others, it will be used to measure how you are judged.

"The king will do as he pleases, exalting himself and claiming to be greater than every god there is, even blaspheming the God of gods. He will succeed--until the time of wrath is completed. For what has been determined will surely take place.

The king agreed, confirming his decision by removing his signet ring from his finger and giving it to Haman son of Hammedatha the Agagite--the enemy of the Jews.
"Keep the money," the king told Haman, "but go ahead and do as you like with these people."
On April 17 Haman called in the king's secretaries and dictated letters to the princes, the governors of the respective provinces, and the local officials of each province in their own scripts and languages. These letters were signed in the name of King Xerxes, sealed with his ring,

For I am with you and will save you, says the LORD. I will completely destroy the nations where I have scattered you, but I will not destroy you. But I must discipline you; I cannot let you go unpunished.

"Come," they say, "let us wipe out Israel as a nation. We will destroy the very memory of its existence."
This was their unanimous decision. They signed a treaty as allies against you--
these Edomites and Ishmaelites, Moabites and Hagrites,
Gebalites, Ammonites, and Amalekites, and people from Philistia and Tyre.
Assyria has joined them, too, and is allied with the descendants of Lot.

He will exalt himself and defy every god there is and tear down every object of adoration and worship. He will position himself in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God.
