16: For the leaders of the people have led them down the path of destruction.

so ignore them. They are blind guides leading the blind, and if one blind person guides another, they will both fall into a ditch."

Children oppress my people, and women rule over them. O my people, can't you see what fools your rulers are? They are leading you down a pretty garden path to destruction.

"Blind guides! How terrible it will be for you! For you say that it means nothing to swear 'by God's Temple'--you can break that oath. But then you say that it is binding to swear 'by the gold in the Temple.'
Blind fools! Which is greater, the gold, or the Temple that makes the gold sacred?
And you say that to take an oath 'by the altar' can be broken, but to swear 'by the gifts on the altar' is binding!
How blind! For which is greater, the gift on the altar, or the altar that makes the gift sacred?
When you swear 'by the altar,' you are swearing by it and by everything on it.

Then the Levitical priests stood and blessed the people, and God heard them from his holy dwelling in heaven.

And without question, the person who has the power to bless is always greater than the person who is blessed.

He stood there and shouted this blessing over the entire community of Israel:
"Praise the LORD who has given rest to his people Israel, just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the wonderful promises he gave through his servant Moses.

"Instruct Aaron and his sons to bless the people of Israel with this special blessing:
`May the LORD bless you and protect you.
May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you.
May the LORD show you his favor and give you his peace.'
