Isaiah 15:1

1: This message came to me concerning Moab: In one night your cities of Ar and Kir will be destroyed.

This is what the LORD says: "The people of Moab have sinned again and again, and I will not forget it. I will not let them go unpunished any longer! They desecrated the tomb of Edom's king and burned his bones to ashes.
So I will send down fire on the land of Moab, and all the fortresses in Kerioth will be destroyed. The people will fall in the noise of battle, as the warriors shout and the trumpets blare.
And I will destroy their king and slaughter all their princes. I, the LORD, have spoken!"

This message was given concerning Moab. This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: "Destruction is certain for the city of Nebo; it will soon lie in ruins. The city of Kiriathaim will be humiliated and captured; the fortress will be humiliated and broken down.
No one will ever brag about Moab again, for there is a plot against her life. In Heshbon plans have been completed to destroy her. `Come,' they say, `we will cut her off from being a nation.' The city of Madmen, too, will be silenced; the sword will follow you there.
And then the roar of battle will surge against Horonaim,
for all Moab is being destroyed. Her little ones will cry out.
Her refugees will climb the hills of Luhith, weeping bitterly, while cries of terror rise from Horonaim below.

A fire flamed forth from Heshbon, a blaze from the city of Sihon. It burned the city of Ar in Moab; it destroyed the rulers of the Arnon heights.

They will join forces to swoop down on Philistia to the west. Together they will attack and plunder the nations to the east. They will occupy all the lands of Edom, Moab, and Ammon.

"And the Sovereign LORD says: Because the people of Moab have said that Judah is just like all the other nations,
I will open up their eastern flank and wipe out their glorious frontier cities--Beth-jeshimoth, Baal-meon, and Kiriathaim.
And I will hand Moab over to nomads from the eastern deserts, just as I handed over Ammon. Yes, the Ammonites will no longer be counted among the nations.
And in the same way, I will bring my judgment down on the Moabites. Then they will know that I am the LORD.

I really don't need to write to you about how and when all this will happen, dear brothers and sisters.
For you know quite well that the day of the Lord will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night.
When people are saying, "All is well; everything is peaceful and secure," then disaster will fall upon them as suddenly as a woman's birth pains begin when her child is about to be born. And there will be no escape.

"I have heard the taunts of the people of Moab and Ammon, mocking my people and invading their borders.
Now, as surely as I live," says the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, "Moab and Ammon will be destroyed as completely as Sodom and Gomorrah. Their land will become a place of stinging nettles, salt pits, and eternal desolation. Those of my people who are left will plunder them and take their land."
They will receive the wages of their pride, for they have scoffed at the people of the LORD Almighty.
The LORD will terrify them as he destroys all the gods in the land. Then people from nations around the world will worship the LORD, each in their own land.

For the LORD's good hand will rest on Jerusalem. Moab will be crushed like trampled straw and left to rot.

The entire land of Moab weeps. Yes, you people of Moab, mourn for the delicacies of Kir-hareseth.

the Egyptians, Edomites, Ammonites, Moabites, the people who live in distant places, and yes, even the people of Judah. Like all these pagan nations, the people of Israel also have uncircumcised hearts."

They destroyed the cities, covered their good land with stones, stopped up the springs, and cut down the good trees. Finally, only Kir-hareseth was left, but even that came under attack.

And at midnight the LORD killed all the firstborn sons in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sat on the throne, to the firstborn son of the captive in the dungeon. Even the firstborn of their livestock were killed.
Pharaoh and his officials and all the people of Egypt woke up during the night, and loud wailing was heard throughout the land of Egypt. There was not a single house where someone had not died.

the LORD warned us, `Do not bother the Moabites, the descendants of Lot, or start a war with them. I have given them Ar as their property, and I will not give you any of their land.'"
