Habakkuk 3:9

9: You were commanding your weapons of power! You split open the earth with flowing rivers!

If a person does not repent, God will sharpen his sword; he will bend and string his bow.
He will prepare his deadly weapons and ignite his flaming arrows.

He opened up a rock, and water gushed out to form a river through the dry and barren land.

He split open the rocks in the wilderness to give them plenty of water, as from a gushing spring.
He made streams pour from the rock, making the waters flow down like a river!

He has been merciful to our ancestors by remembering his sacred covenant with them,
the covenant he gave to our ancestor Abraham.
We have been rescued from our enemies, so we can serve God without fear,
in holiness and righteousness forever.

Then Moses raised his hand and struck the rock twice with the staff, and water gushed out. So all the people and their livestock drank their fill.

"I will continue this everlasting covenant between us, generation after generation. It will continue between me and your offspring forever. And I will always be your God and the God of your descendants after you.
Yes, I will give all this land of Canaan to you and to your offspring forever. And I will be their God.

O LORD, oppose those who oppose me. Declare war on those who are attacking me.
Put on your armor, and take up your shield. Prepare for battle, and come to my aid.
Lift up your spear and javelin and block the way of my enemies. Let me hear you say, "I am your salvation!"

He always stands by his covenant--the commitment he made to a thousand generations.
This is the covenant he made with Abraham and the oath he swore to Isaac.
He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to the people of Israel as a never-ending treaty:
"I will give you the land of Canaan as your special possession."

Do as I say, and stay here in this land. If you do, I will be with you and bless you. I will give all this land to you and your descendants, just as I solemnly promised Abraham, your father.
I will cause your descendants to become as numerous as the stars, and I will give them all these lands. And through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed.

So the LORD made a covenant with Abram that day and said, "I have given this land to your descendants, all the way from the border of Egypt to the great Euphrates River--
the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites,
Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites,
Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites, and Jebusites."

He bends his bow against his people as though he were their enemy. His strength is used against them to kill their finest youth. His fury is poured out like fire on beautiful Jerusalem.

I will meet you by the rock at Mount Sinai. Strike the rock, and water will come pouring out. Then the people will be able to drink." Moses did just as he was told; and as the leaders looked on, water gushed out.

For example, there was God's promise to Abraham. Since there was no one greater to swear by, God took an oath in his own name, saying:
"I will certainly bless you richly, and I will multiply your descendants into countless millions."
Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised.
When people take an oath, they call on someone greater than themselves to hold them to it. And without any question that oath is binding.
God also bound himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that he would never change his mind.

and all of them drank the same miraculous water. For they all drank from the miraculous rock that traveled with them, and that rock was Christ.

The LORD will demonstrate his holy power before the eyes of all the nations. The ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.

Wake up, LORD! Robe yourself with strength! Rouse yourself as in the days of old when you slew Egypt, the dragon of the Nile.
Are you not the same today, the one who dried up the sea, making a path of escape when you saved your people?

"This is what the LORD says: Because you have obeyed me and have not withheld even your beloved son, I swear by my own self that
I will bless you richly. I will multiply your descendants into countless millions, like the stars of the sky and the sand on the seashore. They will conquer their enemies,
and through your descendants, all the nations of the earth will be blessed--all because you have obeyed me."

At the top of the stairway stood the LORD, and he said, "I am the LORD, the God of your grandfather Abraham and the God of your father, Isaac. The ground you are lying on belongs to you. I will give it to you and your descendants.
Your descendants will be as numerous as the dust of the earth! They will cover the land from east to west and from north to south. All the families of the earth will be blessed through you and your descendants.
