21: All the living things on earth died--birds, domestic animals, wild animals, all kinds of small animals, and all the people.

So God said to Noah, "I have decided to destroy all living creatures, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. Yes, I will wipe them all from the face of the earth!

"Look! I am about to cover the earth with a flood that will destroy every living thing. Everything on earth will die!

One week from today I will begin forty days and forty nights of rain. And I will wipe from the earth all the living things I have created."

So the LORD was sorry he had ever made them. It broke his heart.
And the LORD said, "I will completely wipe out this human race that I have created. Yes, and I will destroy all the animals and birds, too. I am sorry I ever made them."

"Will you continue on the old paths where evil people have walked?
They were snatched away in the prime of life, and the foundations of their lives were washed away forever.
For they said to God, `Leave us alone! What can the Almighty do for us?'

"My people are foolish and do not know me," says the LORD. "They are senseless children who have no understanding. They are clever enough at doing wrong, but they have no talent at all for doing right!"
I looked at the earth, and it was empty and formless. I looked at the heavens, and there was no light.
I looked at the mountains and hills, and they trembled and shook.
I looked, and all the people were gone. All the birds of the sky had flown away.
I looked, and the fertile fields had become a wilderness. The cities lay in ruins, crushed by the LORD's fierce anger.

People didn't realize what was going to happen until the Flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes.

The earth has broken down and has utterly collapsed. Everything is lost, abandoned, and confused.

For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.

And God did not spare the ancient world--except for Noah and his family of seven. Noah warned the world of God's righteous judgment. Then God destroyed the whole world of ungodly people with a vast flood.

In those days before the flood, the people enjoyed banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat and the flood came to destroy them all.

The seeds die in the parched ground, and the grain crops fail. The barns and granaries stand empty and abandoned.
How the animals moan with hunger! The cattle wander about confused because there is no pasture for them. The sheep bleat in misery.
LORD, help us! The fire has consumed the pastures and burned up all the trees.
Even the wild animals cry out to you because they have no water to drink. The streams have dried up, and fire has consumed the pastures.

Fire burns in front of them and follows them in every direction! Ahead of them the land lies as fair as the Garden of Eden in all its beauty. Behind them is nothing but desolation; not one thing escapes.

"I will sweep away both people and animals alike. Even the birds of the air and the fish in the sea will die. I will reduce the wicked to heaps of rubble, along with the rest of humanity," says the LORD.

Therefore, a curse consumes the earth and its people. They are left desolate, destroyed by fire. Few will be left alive.

But as for me, LORD, you know my heart. You see me and test my thoughts. Drag these people away like helpless sheep to be butchered! Set them aside to be slaughtered!
How long must this land weep? Even the grass in the fields has withered. The wild animals and birds have disappeared because of the evil in the land. Yet the people say, "The LORD won't do anything!"

That is why your land is not producing. It is filled with sadness, and all living things are becoming sick and dying. Even the animals, birds, and fish have begun to disappear.
