28: Suppose there are only forty-five? Will you destroy the city for lack of five?" And the LORD said, "I will not destroy it if I find forty-five."

And the LORD replied, "If I find fifty innocent people in Sodom, I will spare the entire city for their sake."

Then Abraham pressed his request further. "Suppose there are only forty?" And the LORD replied, "I will not destroy it if there are forty."

If only I knew where to find God, I would go to his throne and talk with him there.
I would lay out my case and present my arguments.

"Please, Lord, prove that your power is as great as you have claimed it to be. For you said,
`The LORD is slow to anger and rich in unfailing love, forgiving every kind of sin and rebellion. Even so he does not leave sin unpunished, but he punishes the children for the sins of their parents to the third and fourth generations.'
Please pardon the sins of this people because of your magnificent, unfailing love, just as you have forgiven them ever since they left Egypt."

So they put on sackcloth and ropes and went to the king of Israel and begged, "Your servant Ben-hadad says, `Please let me live!'" The king of Israel responded, "Is he still alive? He is my brother!"
The men were quick to grasp at this straw of hope, and they replied, "Yes, your brother Ben-hadad!Go and get him," the king of Israel told them. And when Ben-hadad arrived, Ahab invited him up into his chariot!
