Galatians 4:23
23: The son of the slave-wife was born in a human attempt to bring about the fulfillment of God's promise. But the son of the freeborn wife was born as God's own fulfillment of his promise.
Hebrews 11:11
- It was by faith that Sarah together with Abraham was able to have a child, even though they were too old and Sarah was barren. Abraham believed that God would keep his promise.
Romans 9:7
- Just the fact that they are descendants of Abraham doesn't make them truly Abraham's children. For the Scriptures say, "Isaac is the son through whom your descendants will be counted," though Abraham had other children, too.
- This means that Abraham's physical descendants are not necessarily children of God. It is the children of the promise who are considered to be Abraham's children.
Galatians 4:28
- And you, dear brothers and sisters, are children of the promise, just like Isaac.
- And we who are born of the Holy Spirit are persecuted by those who want us to keep the law, just as Isaac, the child of promise, was persecuted by Ishmael, the son of the slave-wife.

Genesis 21:1
- Then the LORD did exactly what he had promised.
- Sarah became pregnant, and she gave a son to Abraham in his old age. It all happened at the time God had said it would.
Romans 4:18
- When God promised Abraham that he would become the father of many nations, Abraham believed him. God had also said, "Your descendants will be as numerous as the stars," even though such a promise seemed utterly impossible!
- And Abraham's faith did not weaken, even though he knew that he was too old to be a father at the age of one hundred and that Sarah, his wife, had never been able to have children.
- Abraham never wavered in believing God's promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God.
- He was absolutely convinced that God was able to do anything he promised.
Romans 10:8
- Salvation that comes from trusting Christ--which is the message we preach--is already within easy reach. In fact, the Scriptures say, "The message is close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart."
Genesis 17:15
- Then God added, "Regarding Sarai, your wife--her name will no longer be Sarai; from now on you will call her Sarah.
- And I will bless her and give you a son from her! Yes, I will bless her richly, and she will become the mother of many nations. Kings will be among her descendants!"
- Then Abraham bowed down to the ground, but he laughed to himself in disbelief. "How could I become a father at the age of one hundred?" he wondered. "Besides, Sarah is ninety; how could she have a baby?"
- And Abraham said to God, "Yes, may Ishmael enjoy your special blessing!"
- But God replied, "Sarah, your wife, will bear you a son. You will name him Isaac, and I will confirm my everlasting covenant with him and his descendants.
