20: So the area was 875 feet on each side with a wall all around it to separate the holy places from the common.

A section of this land, measuring 875 feet by 875 feet, will be set aside for the Temple. An additional strip of land 87 1/2 feet wide is to be left empty all around it.

Your priests have violated my laws and defiled my holy things. To them there is no difference between what is holy and what is not. And they do not teach my people the difference between what is ceremonially clean and unclean. They disregard my Sabbath days so that my holy name is greatly dishonored among them.

I could see a wall completely surrounding the Temple area. The man took a measuring rod that was 10 1/2 feet long and measured the wall, and the wall was 10 1/2 feet thick and 10 1/2 feet high.

They will teach my people the difference between what is holy and what is common, what is ceremonially clean and unclean.

For I, myself, will be a wall of fire around Jerusalem, says the LORD. And I will be the glory inside the city!'"

"An additional strip of land 8 1/3 miles long by 1 2/3 miles wide, south of the sacred Temple area, will be allotted for public use--homes, pasturelands, and common lands, with a city at the center.

Violence will disappear from your land; the desolation and destruction of war will end. Salvation will surround you like city walls, and praise will be on the lips of all who enter there.

My lover is like a swift gazelle or a young deer. Look, there he is behind the wall! Now he is looking in through the window, gazing into the room.

In that day, everyone in the land of Judah will sing this song: Our city is now strong! We are surrounded by the walls of God's salvation.

Therefore, come out from them and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord. Don't touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you.

And besides, there is a great chasm separating us. Anyone who wanted to cross over to you from here is stopped at its edge, and no one there can cross over to us.'

So he took me in spirit to a great, high mountain, and he showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God.
It was filled with the glory of God and sparkled like a precious gem, crystal clear like jasper.
Its walls were broad and high, with twelve gates guarded by twelve angels. And the names of the twelve tribes of Israel were written on the gates.
There were three gates on each side--east, north, south, and west.
The wall of the city had twelve foundation stones, and on them were written the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

O LORD, I will honor and praise your name, for you are my God. You do such wonderful things! You planned them long ago, and now you have accomplished them.

You are to distinguish between what is holy and what is ordinary, what is ceremonially unclean and what is clean.

This entire area--including the sacred lands and the city--is a square that measures 8 1/3 miles on each side.

In that day, Israel, your cities will be rebuilt, and your borders will be extended.
